Good Monday Morning!

Patriot Woodworker, we have survived the weekend to move on to this warm June week.  The weekend brought a bit of fulfillment and completion for me.  My son and I can finally say, "The end is near!"  The deconstruction of his property is complete and we built an 80 foot fence on Saturday.  He has scheduled a local company to bring in 7 loads of top soil to fill in the hole from the house and level the yard.

Your Week:

So gang, what's shaping up for your week?

Usual stuff...a couple of swim meets mid week and Summer Swim Banquet Friday night; Season wraps up this coming Saturday with the conference meet.

Step-dad to eye Dr. Wednesday PM for the 6 mo full Monty "special."...dilate, retina image scan, in-depth exam, and injection. Truck goes back Thursday AM for out-patient surgery...B/O'd replacement manifold throttle plate actuator finally arrived; hope this one works; Ford's track record has not been good on this part. Finished mowing Saturday; time to start over. Apparently I have to put up a new swimming pool too...remaining free time, if any, TBD

The now empty lot looks nice.

Glue ups scheduled. Then, rest after all that work.:D

got the sub-base done for the bookcases (4, covering 86" in width), set it on the floor, put a level on it.  wow.  it's 5/8" off from one end to the other.  time to scribe and cut off the excess.

i knew it would be off, but i figured 1/4" would cover it.  nope.  let's hear it for bandsaws.

Last week was rather a hectic one... son to the cancer center on Monday for blood work and doctor consult, treatment on Tuesday, remove treatment on Thursday (he wears a bottle of poison for two days). Plumbing fix for my daughter on Friday, and work all day Saturday at the garden center. That left Wednesday, and son was feeling pretty good, so we took a two-hour drive east to pick up some tools he had found on Kijiji. First was a 6" jointer in decent shape, as well as a few odds and ends, then another 45 minute drive to see a drill press (virtually unused... he got it!) then north 20 minutes to see a tool cart (got it). Headed home by my favourite route, along Lake Ontario, stopped for a burger at my favourite restaurant, then by a junk shop to see what they had. As we left there, the heavens opened up, and we were blessed  with about 2" of rain in about 5 minutes! Everything stayed dry under the tarp, though. Offloaded most of it to his workshop, but brought the jointer home (he ran out of space). So THIS week (no chemo) I have several projects to keep me busy.

An 8" bandsaw he bought recently, which I've already rehabbed, but waiting on a small bearing. ($26 for a bearing the size of a nickel!)

The jointer, new belt, everything adjusted but needing a frame to keep the legs from flexing.

A fully functional No.6 Bailey corrugated plane (MINE!) that needs only minor clean-up. Been looking for one of these for a couple of years, but wasn't about to pay $140 for it. Got this one for $40!

And my Father's Day present, which he figured would look good hanging on the wall of my shop. Guess he never noticed that ALL my wall space is already taken! BTW,  he got two of these, and his will get a place on some wall of his log home, currently under construction. And FWIW, @Grandpadave52, his has BOTH handles AND a blade guard! <_<

So this is the best parts of the entire post! To you both...keep on keeping on!

Pretty good haul on the rust hunt too. That Bailey looks pretty nice...I've seen them not nearly as nice here $25-$40 US so ya' did good. Unless you repainted it, that BS looks like it was hardly ever used.

Thanks Dave. (My son's name too.) He's responding well to treatment, and keeping his spirits up. As for the BS (the saw, not the other one...) I believe he paid $35 for it, and it has been VERY lightly used. His daughter was here last night, and promptly claimed it as her own. Nice to see that SOME kids are still interested in WW'ing!

To hot and humid to do much outside.  I am working on a cabinet to hold sewing thread for a friend of mine.

This is what she wants.  I am building one not quite as crude but out of reclaimed and left over materials.

For Father's Day, delivered to Son in Law, one folding workbench per request.  He's a keeper.
