one time is all it takes at a HD around here...
once you have an experience w/ the floor help, CS or a special order and you won't return unless you are a glutton for punishment...

I find CS varies a lot by store and over time.   I've gotten good and bad customer service at all of them.

I do like HD's Ship-to-Store for really odd things that they don't stock.  Same for Do-It-Best, I'd order by Sunday at 5 pm and it would be at the store on Wednesday morning when the weekly truck got there.

As a side to this, my Son in Law hired Lowes to redo his Kitchen and Bathroom.  Everything was picked out, colors , cabinets, floors. counter tops etc.  3 months later, floors weren't available, so substitution.  Cabinet colors (already installed) clashed with floor.  Counter tops had rub streaks that they can't get out after 3 trys, so new counter tops, can't get replacements of original ones.  Bathroom has new toilet, however no sink.  Cabinet problems.  etc, etc, etc.
