March 4, 20188 yr Fluorescent dyed glue has been around for many years. Don't think I would use Titebond 2 for an exterior planter box.
March 4, 20188 yr Author Yeah, TBIII, maybe. And, if it's an outside box, I don't think I'd worry about that squeeze out, either. A buddy that does a lot of marquetry uses hide glue and checks for smears with a black light. He said he got the idea by watching CSI on tv.
March 4, 20188 yr Are they checking glue on that program? Wonder who sells that glue in small bottles. The smallest I can find is either 1 gallon or 5 gallons. It might be handy to find those Uh-Oh's before the finish goes on. Herb
March 4, 20188 yr Author Herb, I guess the black light or, as it's termed on tv crime shows, "alternate light source", reacts to protein...as in blood. Hide glue has plenty, I guess TBII does, too. I found the same quantities online, also. Gonna check with the Ace place to see if they can get it. Let you know.
March 5, 20188 yr Popular Post So that is why it is good for finding scorpions, bedbugs, fleas, etc. (the blue lite, that is) Maybe KMart has it, they are always having "Blue Light Specials). Herb Edited March 5, 20188 yr by Dadio
March 5, 20188 yr Author I'd forgotten about it's ability to locate bugs. My sons, when in high school, would use a black light flash light to find scorpions for their biology class. IIRC, they became rattlesnake food.
March 5, 20188 yr As an update on the glow in the black light TiteBond II, my cousin Paul sent an inquiry to CS at Titebonds website where they show small containers of this glue but don't list them in their price list, as to where this glue can be purchased in this size. Here is their response: Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, the TB II Fluorescent does not come in a quart size. Only 1 gallon, 5 gallon and 55 gallon sizes are available. I have access to the past six months of where we have sent this product and it doesn’t look like we’ve sent any into Washington state. I would highly recommend going to your local Lowe’s or Home Depot to do a special order at their prodesk. Since you’re inquiring about the quart size the next smallest size would be the gallon – our part number 2316. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know! Thank You, Ashley So there isn't any there over there. Herb
March 5, 20188 yr Author Well, there you have it. Thanks Herb. A gallon wouldn't be bad but, the last gallon of TBII I had went all lumpy before it got used. Maybe just bleed into a quart. Edited March 5, 20188 yr by Gene Howe
March 5, 20188 yr Herb, Woodworker's Hardware carries that ($33/Gal). I don't what the shipping cost would be...but it might all come out cheaper (or not) than a special order at the box stores.
March 5, 20188 yr Maybe it can be put in smaller containers and held in the refer like my CA glue . Hmmmmm maybe buy 55gal drum and put it in ziplock bags and sell it on the street corner after dark. Herb Fred that might be the way to go. Not in a hurry, the last time I ordered liquid it took a month to get, they delivered it by horseback. Edited March 5, 20188 yr by Dadio
