I just got started carving on these pieces..I have warned guys here about some of these bits being too aggressive and hard to control.... Well, and getting in too big of a hurry.... that's what I was doing and this is what I was using.....IMG_0022.JPG.63d6ee73eefe46140841d1b6c014831d.JPG

And for safety sake I have cut done almost all of the shaft lengths so they won't bend but I do need some  for deeper holes...

First blood I have seen in the shop in a long time, many years...IMG_0024.JPG.5107bef5054615a86b0f5891535f2237.JPG

And when you get down in between two pieces is when the rattling of the bit can start, banging from one side to the other..

And I usually wear some very thick leather gloves for this reason,,,,,,, but they happened to be about a foot out of reach ..

No stitches needed but a band aid for sure. So just guessing but it aught to be about May or June when I can start working again...O boy...

Sorry to hear that Jess.  Always happens in a blink of an eye.  That's what we get for playing with sharp tools.  Pretty sure it is the same as running with scissors.  Keep it clean until it heals up.  Take care.

darn, Jess, hopefully all will heal well and you can get back to making your great stuff in no time.  In the mean time, catch up on all those books and DVDs you have been putting off because of our "hobby".  Best wishes

Ouch, Jesse. Where did it get you? No shop time till May or June sounds like a serious wound. Maybe a doctor?

That one must have got your index finger or thumb!! Bummer, Jess, no stitches ? When I hurt the palm of my hand the hand doctor,a Plastic Sturgeon, mended it so I can hardly see the scar.

Ouch, Patch...never want to hear something like this.

Better have a doctor look at it for fear of an infection.

Make sure you're up to date on your tetanus inoculation too.

You take care of yourself.

Sorry to hear this Jess.  Hope that you heal up quickly and show that project who the boss is!

Ouch Jess.  Hurts me to think about it.   Without a doubt, we have a dangerous hobby.

Sorry to hear of the slip. I agree with others maybe have your MD take a look and check the shots as Dave said.
