My story may be coming to an end

next week. I've been trying to get my shop attic insulated . This has been my usual experience with contractors, spending a lot of time calling and waiting, and having another one not show up. Anyway, I found someone in my small town that is supposed to be out next Tuesday to do the job, insulation to be delivered Monday. In this case I went with R50 cellulose and it would have been about $800+ for me to do it myself (with help). I'm too old, so this relatively new insulation company will do it for about $1350. Anyway, I'm feeling good about finally getting this completed, but of course there always remains the chance this will go poof.....

You should be in great shape with R50 Fred.  Good price too!

Hope it all works out OK Fred...The small extra cost for them to install is worth the wait particularly since all you have to do is unlock/lock the shop when done.

Keep us posted.

R50....wow. That should keep in the heat. For sure, the birds won't be bothered by the noise, either.

What Lew and Dan said!

John

So does that mean you finally gonna have to start making things to prove to wife the reason or justification  for all that money being spent....

Gene that stuff will be packed in so tight he will doing away with the squirrels being able to starting a home in his new shop... So we better call the Better Business Squirrel Bureau and turn him in.  Besides we might aught to send him a copy of proposition 69 to read over to make sure he is in compliance with California's laws. I know he don't live there but he might want to visit someday...

Not only my wife, but our daughter has a list of things she wants me to make. Of course, there's a few things I'll need to build in the shop for storage and whatnot. I'm guessing if I ever get it running I'll be busy for a good long while...which is what it's for, I guess. Back to the R value, that's actually what the DOE zone map calls for in our area, but some of the thinking was the noise factor. That, plus I was shooting for R40 anyway, and going to R50 wasn't a big add to the cost. It amounts to 15" applied, and that's supposed to settle to 12" (I think) over time. Fed law requires the R value estimates to be quoted on the settled amount....something I learned while doing all my searching on insulation.

Fred, you're gonna have blast building and arranging.

The insulation was delivered yesterday...and they said they would be here today to blow it in. Whew, I'll be glad when this is over. I'd post a pic, but looking at 3 pallets of insulation isn't all that interesting.

Good day to blow it in...not too hot that's for sure.

Hope all goes well!

Good to hear Fred.  Happy for you.  Stay warm.

It won't be long before the sounds of a workshop will be purring from that building.

That is great news!
