Good Monday Morning Patriot Woodworkers! January 22nd, 2018

Good Monday Morning!

Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks!

Our weekend

I would like to say that I did something this past weekend in the ol wood shop, or even around the home, but I had one of the laziest weekends I have ever had in years. I have been quite overwhelmed these past few months with out of home extra duties that involve the care of others, and just a bunch of other things going on in life that presents challenges in ones patience, and my wife and I decided to just pull the plug on the phone, close our home up, and basically unplug from the world for the weekend. It was quiet, even the kids enjoyed the peace of a non-ringing phone. Our youngest girl was tied up all weekend with a school project, and our son with his annual Science project for school was busy, and our oldest girl stayed on campus at college this weekend because her symphony she plays in had a road tour for a concert, so the kids did not need much attention, and my wife and I were left to to laze around and do "whatever". It's been a long time since we did this, I like it, we'll have to unplug "literally" more often! Next week I should start to have some images rolling in for our patio build, as I'll be back on it this coming weekend.

What's It

Our January "What's It" is winding down with one week left. These What's It's aren't easy folks, if they were, the fine folks at MWTCA would have had them nailed down by now, we are hoping that someone has seen one before and can recognize them, and provide a verifiable reference for them as well so we can solve the mysteries. Good luck!

RIP, Mr. Castle.

This past weekend mostly consisted of household chores. Vacuuming, mopping, dusting, washing clothes and doing dishes. Phyl will be home from the Bahamas tonight. Yay!

Did manage to get some sanding done on the river table. The coming week, there will be little shop time. My Brother and SIL will be here Tuesday to deliver some olive wood and pick up his rifle case. Then, on Thursday, I'll be meeting a woodworking friend from Iowa for a trip to our favorite lumber yard. Probably grab some mesquite and pistachio. It's a 4 hour trip both ways. I'll be whipped but, maybe Friday I can get back to the shop.

Same here Gene...I managed to stay out of the way while it was occurring.

Along similar lines of John, I was flat lazy over the weekend...did bare minimum...lunch out after church yesterday, a little shopping, then home..read the paper, some time here and watched the Monk marathon.

Girls had a good day at the swim invitational...oldest had 3 podium finishes and turned in her best time ever in the butterfly...4th fastest overall...youngest improved her best times...best individual was 15th out of 24 and 10th on one relay team. Team finished 3rd OA missing 2nd by 9 points---lack of divers; best finish ever in the 22 years of this event; over 1/2 of the schools have student enrollments 2-3x larger than us.  Early morning practices are done; final dual meet this Thursday; Senior Night.

Might saunter out to the garage this PM while temps are in mid-50's and 99% of snow gone; strong t-storms rolling through right now....accumulating snow starts again tomorrow AM. Work Safe all.

Cast up the Alumilite in the turning I am playing with. Need to peel away the sealing clay to see if it is worth continuing.

Have to replace the icemaker and defrost thermistor in the fridge.

Monday...about says it all......ABS light will not go out on the van.....sounds like $$$$.....just get one thing fixed......

May set a few things up in the shop, today....cold is still barking away in the lungs.    No sign of any of that white stuff littering the ground...

Normal Monday......:(:angry::rolleyes:

Still trying to figure out how to fix the warped chess board.  Finished a couple of projects over the weekend.  Enjoyed the let up in the frigid weather.

working on making a bowl blank later today.

another monday?!!!!!

Had a funeral on Saturday, (one of those not dna related, but still family), and pretty much Sunday was just about watching football at our son’s house. Back to the grindstone this coming weekend.

Sorry to hear that, Artie. We're having one of those later in the week. Brother-in-law of a brother-in-law. Met him a few times, nice guy, fireman, three kids. He and his wife went up north a little way to look at a cottage they wanted to buy. He and a buddy decided to take one last snowmobile ride before he headed home Saturday night. Ice on the lake was rotten..... his buddy was hauled out by a couple of locals, and will survive. Police divers recovered his body 24 hours later. 48 years old. SO sad! :( His oldest sister will be coming in from Alberta to stay with us for a few days. Not much shop time, I'm afraid.

So, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Check your ground Steve.  I had a GM that the ABS light came on and it was an engine ground wire issue.

Completed installing the rest of the overhead lights. Wired up the last receptacle on the wall. Hung another cabinet (one left, where it will go is still open) Now it is cleanup, move tools into their final position (hopefully) and assemble my table saw. Wife is busy painting the dining room and living room.

No what you mean about just getting one thing fixed then ?????...Frustrating!

Hate to say it, but probably temporary and will reappear Steven. Once the light has displayed, a code has been set in the ECM/TCM (Engine/Transmission Control Module). Unfortunately to read this code, you need an OBDII/ABS scan tool. Most independent repair shops can do this for you. IDK about AutoZone/Advance Auto/O"Reilly parts stores...some may use an advanced code reader.

Good news (if any), since the light does not remain lit it probably isn't a major failure like the ABS module; likely just one of the (4) wheel sensors...DCJ's seem to have this problem...there is a remote chance some debris (ice/rock/sand/salt etc.) might have stuck between the sensor, then dislodged. If your Traction Control, ABS and Exclamation Point lamps did not light simultaneously or since they have not remained on steady or flashing, it should be safe to drive, but I'd still get it scanned.

got a hair cut...

You just spend the whole time trying to think of something to say or do, that will help.
