I live in Pepperell Ma, in a small townhouse, so my workshop (which is about 85% done, as far as a workshop is ever done) is quite small. I have a Shopsmith with most of the attachements, a planer (still in the box), a couple of routers, a radial arm saw (one of the cheap Craftsman models, which I got used and am rebuilding) (which is another way of saying it’s in parts on one of the benches LOL) some hand planes, chisels, and other hand tools. I am an electrician by trade, have an honorable discharge from the USAFR, A wife, and son. My other fun way of passing time is I’m one of those nerds at the beach, with a metal detector. This forum was recommended to me by a member on another woodworking forum. So anyways, hi everyone. Report

January 16, 20188 yr Author comment_137429 I should have added to my intro that I do have an honorable from the Air Force Reserves, I am not a veteran. I always feel quite uncomfortable with people giving me credit for that. I gave the US a chance to do what they wanted with me for 4 years, and I was lucky enough that they had no need to call me up. There are other SS owners/users here and lots of us with cluttered benches so you're quite at home here! I guess I'm a nerd too with my metal detector although I'm a long way from any real beach other than man made'; Oh forgot; about 2 hours from shores of Lake Michigan; Looking forward to seeing your shop and projects...jump in and join the fun whenever you can! Some of the other member do, however, be patient and they'll be along soon enough. Don't be afraid to jump in. You're golden if you brought; questions and a good sense of humor. January 16, 20188 yr Author comment_137453 P_toad, our son moved out in July (he and his fiancée bought a house), and my wife grabbed his room for her She shed. Our dream is for me to be making sawdust in the basement, and her upstairs knitting/sewing/crocheting. Right now, I’m swamped with side work for friends and family. These are jobs I can’t say no to, and also I don’t get paid for. It is KILLING me to not have any time for the basement right now. (Because I am gonna want to sneak away to the beach with the detector in the summer). Report

Bill Bill, when I was a youngun, my next door neighbor would pay me with cucumbers and tomatoes from his garden, to NOT ask questions LOL. And as far as a good sense of humor goes, the number 1 thing my wife says to me is. “You’re not as funny as you think you are”. I am liking it here though. Report

January 17, 20188 yr comment_137464 Welcome aboard Artie.A great bunch of guys here, with all the help you'll need . Pepperell is a long was from the beach. Probably an hour drive up 495 ? I'm located in Salisbury, not on the beach front but about 2 miles away. Metal detectors do seem popular at Salisbury beach, especially after a storm. Never tried it myself. Great to see another New Englander aboard this boat. I'm also a former Airman from back a few years. 1952-1955 Report

Then your files on your Ipad will open up an just touch to select the pic you want. then it is intuitive to click done . You can then touch the + on the pic to add to message or the trash to not post pic. Once it is in message you can double tap to change size or location of the pic in message. Report

It uncovered the concrete gun mounts that hadn’t been seen in 30 years. I have a 5 gallon bucket with the bottom 4 inches full of 50 cal shells I have found there. Salisbury up to Old Orchard is where I usually go. When I was a kid my parents had a cottage on Plum Island, It’s where they met. Those summers where the happiest days of my life. (Hope the Missus doesn’t take that the wrong way LOL) Report

I lived on a high hill in Amesbury and could see to the beach from my BR window. The army controlled the beach. I watched the search lights and listened to the guns during the night time target practice every night. Always though I wouldn't want to be flying one of those planes pulling the targets Report
