TGIF: Finishing Fixture #4 - smalll turntable January 16, 2017

Featured Replies

Here is a great fixture for rotating a piece while you are finishing.   Simply a ball-bearing lazy susan hardware on a scrap piece of plywood.   Mine's well used.  Prop your piece(s) up on one of the prior stand-offs and rotate as you stain or finish.

I have the same but placed a double size piece of ply on top so bearing does not get finish

I have the same with boards on each side . Made it one time when refinishing a maple dining set and used a chair that would just sit on the four corners without falling off. More stable when sitting a cedar chest on it and turning it round and around.

I'm not sure there's a way with this mechanism to get boards on both sides.   I have some that are used for swiveling barstools that you can by drilling a hole in the bottom piece at a spot where you can get it.   Just beware some of them will only turn +-90 degrees, return to a 0 spot when swiveled and have a slant on them.

Yours looks just like mine and I have boards attached to both sides of the metal rings..

Yep mine too. That is what the large hole is for. You have to drill a hole in one board to match that , mount it and then flip and the other side screws go thru that hole. Have had many retail displays built that way, in my stores over the years.

Gerald you might have to draw him a picture!

Nah, I understand.   That would not work with the lazy susan bearing I have, but I've worked on many swivel bar stools.   Just trying to make everyone aware of the options.
