November 30, 20178 yr Popular Post Pretty cool and quick way to make a simple drawer https://www.wwgoa.com/video/posthaste-projects-instant-drawer-008593/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=A5439&vsoid=A5439
November 30, 20178 yr Quick and simple, one set-up, and good to go...as long as your stock is milled to exactly 1/2". The only other downside, which isn't, is that when you cut the groove for the bottom you end up with a square through hole at the joints. Not something I would want for a piece of furniture. However, that fix is simple...just glue in a plug. Anyway, great video, thanks Keith.

November 30, 20178 yr My dad was a cat skinner for a while. In the Sea Bees. Later, in the oil patch. Wonder if they still use that term for bulldozer operators?
December 1, 20178 yr That is even easier than using a 1/4" straight bit to do the same joint. For the bottom, I dry fit the drawer, use a band clamp to hold it together, then use a slotting bit to cut the groove for the drawer bottom. All I have to do is round the corners of the bottom to match the diameter of my slotting bit. Works wonderfully. Lee Valley makes 2 different slotting bits just for this purpose, 1 for 1/8" thick bottoms, the other for 1/4" bottoms.
