Sorta' been holding out or plain lazy to transfer pictures from my phone to 'puter files.

Not real exciting or of any great value; I just hated to see them get tossed or rust away...

Some recent acquisitions and their story..

Bought this at the Parke County, IN covered Bridge Festival about a month back...$2....didn't need it, but marked Made in U.S.A.

Corsair is only marking on it besides Made in USA...wasn't too rusty actually. What little I've researched, Corsair made squares and levels in or near Great Neck, NY and eventually was purchased

by the Great Neck Tool Co.

Used various grits "sanding erasers" and the Dremel with wire brush...bad lighting, cold hands, probably a smudged lens on my phone camera plus the heavy coat of Johnson's doesn't

show how well it cleaned up...a few stains in the rule portion, but all rust is gone...I found the adjustable head on the left (black) a couple weeks ago at the in-door flea warehouse for about 35 cents.

No markings on it, but it's unique and it was 35 cents

Cleaned up both retaining nuts and and clamp screws...used gun blue on the retaining nuts. One on the left was missing the tension spring, but I was able to rework a Delta faucet tapered

seat spring to work. They'll work fine for a set of sizing calipers...I didn't notice either ahd apparently been dropped on the 45o angle out end thus both are slightly bent. I may try to straighten some

day or not.

This sliding head is the only one I've seen where the level vial was cast, but not drilled for the vial.

I bought this a few months ago at the in-door Flea Warehouse for around a buck or so...Again, did not need, but made in the U.S.A. by the Union Tool Co...The CARP indicates this was a Carpenter

Square versus a Machinist version.

After soaking the scale in a tube of Evap-O-Rust all the rust was completely removed, but it does leave the pitting and odd "fish-eye" finish on the steel. The verdict is still out on future refurbs

using Evap-O-Rust...after some light scrubbing with the "rust erasers" it had a great shine...again poor lighting and photography doesn't do it justice.

It's a keeper and will see use...seems to be accurate...I really like the sliding head detail. Original patina, just cleaned up with a toothbrush & Simple Green then couple coats of Johnson's.

Gun bluing on the retaining nut...dull finish due to Johnson's...

Even has the scribe! Usually the ones I see are missing it.

Yes the Union did...Cosair MIA..The unidentified head has a small dimple point where one could be drilled but like the level vial, not completed. I'm wondering if it was reject head or an economy version.?

This coming from you...who doesn't like to finish...we've had this discussion.

I don't do pottery...home made pottery is really crappy in my opinion.
