Well folks, here we are just past the middle of November and staring down Thanksgiving.  This week has been much calmer than last week since I don't have a show this weekend but nonetheless, I have been busy.  I have a couple of quilt racks to make before Christmas but I'm sneaking in two hanging wall racks for my two great nephews.  Tomorrow is my youngest grandson's 10th birthday and I'm wondering where the time is going.  Next week I celebrate another trip around the sun and I'll have my nose against the window of 70 years old.  Wow, that just doesn't seem possible.

Enough about me...... what about y'all?  Got any big plans for the weekend?

Officially joined the Senior Citizens ranks yesterday by signing up for mandated Medicare in advance of turning 65 in a few weeks. I seem to recall my last birthday was either my 29th or 30th. Girls have a swim meet at home tomorrow at 10A with warm-ups at 9; will be taking them over ~8:45 A. Should be done by NOON so likely take them out for lunch afterwards. Best not to get between them and their food after a meet.:P

I did get some mowing & mulching in a couple days ago" but that may be it for 2017??  Shop" time only if temps reach upper 40's or more which is not in the forecast thus remainder of weekend TBD. Maybe I can hang out here and learn something.

Finished putting together the high chair and final sanding. Starting the finish tomorrow. That'll put a stop to any dust making for a couple of days.

Still have about a half dozen Christmas presents to make.

12 sheets of plywood brought home. Start building a sewing center and a work table for my wife tomorrow. 20 drawers total.

Still building rifle cases and reorganizing for a new direction with wood working.

Have a woodturners meeting tomorrow.Working on Christmas and throw in a top every now and then.

Grandpadave you got to get a heater . You may have sawdust withdrawal thru the winter.

Ron my 70 hits next month and I feel more like it every day that passes.

Nothing on the schedule.....still trying to get the van fixed.

Part we sent BACK, turned out to be the part that was needed.....and NOT the other $80 part we had installed.   Starter is also $80, and a PITA to replace...paying someone else to do that job...

No lumber in the shop.....not much to build anything with....although..the Boss does have a few ideas...:o:rolleyes:

C'mon out Dave. Plenty of room on the mesa. :D

Got some window blinds to install and a bed to assemble upstairs.  Started to r&r a rear bearing and hub on the wife's car yesterday and ran out of daylight.  Watch the Dawgs play KY this afternoon.  May help my BIL do a brake job on his car at that time also.  Tomorrow looks like a quick trip to Columbus to pick up some flooring needed to complete the downstairs.  I thought I had purchased enough last year but we have had a change up in the plans.  The vinyl planks we had purchased have been discontinued but a store in Columbus still has quite a bunch on hand so we are picking up while the picking is good so to speak...

Come north about an hour Dave.  I'll fix you up.

Just turning 65, huh Dave. Since you'll officially be a senior citizen, that means it's time to get into the shop and make some dust. No more excuses for not getting there. You definitely need a heater. Maybe you can build a small reactor to heat the shop.

What I really need Al is a dedicated shop rather than shared space in 1/2 of the garage.

My long term goal of being a "stay at home dad with no kids" :P got derailed with daughter and four grand-kids moving back.

Over the course of this winter, I plan to review some building options...I need a retreat for sanity sake.:D

Nukes are probably out as an option...seems ATF & Homeland frown on DIY backyard reactors:lol:

Saturday town got almost 4" of rain (3.8")   and the Dungeon Creek was flowing across the floor of the shop....Nothing gets done when I get wet feet:angry:

Waiting on a new starter to show up, and get installed.   Waiting on two Postal Money Orders to show up.....then I could do a wee bit of shopping?

Not sure WHAT I could make out of a 1/2" x 8" x  48" plank of Poplar......may  do a bit of puttering around, and see.  Once the floor is dry, again...:(

Friday and Saturday were a write-off, the former was spent on deliveries and cleaning up for our Christmas open house at the garden center, and the latter was the big day. About 15 acres of greenhouses were open to the public, who could either wander around on their own, or take one of two guided tours led by the owners. I guess the drizzly weather brought people inside, as we had a LARGE turnout. Many come back every year to bask in the tropical warmth and see the 150 to 200 thousand poinsettias. Santa made an appearance for the kids, there were door prizes and free carnations for the ladies, as well as coffee, hot mulled cider, and lots of cookies! Sunday is always our "driving aimlessly around the countryside" day, and today or tomorrow I'll have to meet with a sales rep to place my order for this coming March. (Pond supplies). Should be able to get back into the shop after that.

This is what it looks like in our wholesale greenhouses. ( Pictures taken before the crowds were let in.)
