I think I can control the depth better with the knife. cavities for revolvers and some long guns have to be cut at varying depths. Although, kaizen is pretty forgiving. I've never tried it either Gene, but I'm going to have to give it a try. Sounds like just the thing.

Thanks for participating and taking time to show us. Well we were going to let the kids paint it and that is why I used Poplar. After I cut this and planed it, I liked the Spalted look and I hate to see it get covered up. I didn't remember this Poplar having the Spalting in it when I put it in the barn a few years ago. I guess I will keep the Prototype and clear finish it for me.

September 22, 20178 yr Popular Post Got a couple more cabinets assembled and delivered to the jobsite. Actually we put them in the lady's garage on sawhorses and covered with a tarp until the demo is complete on the existing lower cabinets. These two will flank the sink cabinet. The cabinet with the custom utensil drawer will be on the left of the sink. It turned out nice. I cut the top using my CNC. I cut it upside down so a rabbit could be cut along all four edges. And the holes are perfect. The cans simply drop in and can be easily removed and set on the counter when needed. Still have a few more to build then it will be time to break out the big hammer!
September 22, 20178 yr Very nice @MT Stringer...the utensil drawer is a great idea...no more rummaging around in drawers...

I definitely like the looks of yours much better especially with the exposed dovetails, natural finish and the staggered can placement. Quite classy!
