I don't know if that speaks to the age of your truck or the gun in your boot.

neither...

where I live...

location, location location...

I'd never consider it else where...

Been a lot of years since we could do that around here and we live rural...

Growing up almost everybody left their keys in the car even when parked in town and doors at home unlocked

How times have changed...no respect for anything or anybody

Add that, along with not being able to take a leak where you want and, HOAs, to your reasons to move.:D

Just ordered 1 regular size and 1 large. Don't have to use the compressor, just the hand bulb.

I didn't want to quote your message with all the pics, but the airshims don't inflate to 300 psi, they support 300 lbs. Like your car tires support 2000 lbs on 35 psi tires. :)

I realized that after I went to their website. Since they don't recommend  inflating them with the compressor, I will just use the bulb. Thanks for correcting me on what i wrote ,don't want others to be mislead.

'Sok, herb. Doubt many of us have compressors that'll get that much pressure, anyway.

It works out to about 10 psi.

Many years ago, returning from a surf fishing trip to NC, I pulled up in the alley behind the house so I could open the gate and back the truck into the driveway. Force of habit -  pushed down the "Lock" button and slammed the door shut. With the engine running, and the spare key in the glovebox in case I lost the original out on the beach.  I don't remember how he did it - involved climbing on top of the cap after I removed the rods from the roof rack - but my buddy got the door open by going through the sliding window in the back of the cab somehow.  Not sure that the "spare key in a magnetic holder under the lip of the bed" (although that is a good idea) would have worked because the cap was probably locked too. Good thing my buddy showed up, I was looking for one of the local "villains" to see if they had a Slim Jim handy.

Update on the AirShims, they arrived today and are smaller than I had thought. Good thing I ordered 2, I can use one on each side of the dust bin to raise it ,then slide in the wedges to hold it.

:D:lol: You"re a good man Herb.

So, whadda' think? Better than before? Easier to use or about the same?

I realize yours is kind of  a one-off application, but now that you've done it, satisfied with the results?

A lot easier Dave, Before I didn't have enough hands to pump up the inner tube and try to line up the bin with the groove in the top. This way I can pump it up til it is just snug and shake the can back and forth and it pops into the groove and I can then pump it up hard and it holds while I slide in the wedges.

I am grateful to Ron for posting this.

B)B)B)...glad it fit your niche and especially made things easier...haven't ordered any yet, but I'm going to look into these. A couple of non-woodworking uses came to mind...

Thanks Herb for posting your application, pics and story. :)
