This is not my kind of wood working, but a nephew of one of our WW club members sent this to her and she passed it on to me.  I will pass it on to you guys /gals as an example of what can be done with a minimum of tools and scraps of wood, and a huge imagination. Not sure where this person lives, but have a hunch it is in another country. It is sort of long, and when I started it I was only going to watch snippets, but ened up watching the whole thing.

Herb

Herb, some might say it's a different country, all right. He lives in Ventura, CA.

His name is Scott O' Conner. Some of his paintings are better than his woodwork....at least what I've seen.

Does anyone have BlackLight in their house? When the lights go out in my house is when I go to sleep. I think it is a curiosity that pistachio lights up under blacklight, but not for practical purposes.

Garooovvvyyy man! To each his own...

Not surprising he already had a black light set-up in his pad.

BTW, I think he hung the pistachio wood, hanging wall art piece upside down

For all I know (not much) it may be hanging sideways:P

I remember being in an art museum once and there was a wall collage.   It looked like my scrap bin had been glued together and spray painted white.   There was even a stretch of machine cut dovetails that was run for a trial fitting, then sawn off.  I guess I'm just uncultured.

It seems to be the rage now with the younger set. My Grand daughter awhile back wanted to know if I could bring over a box of wood scraps for her to make a wall hanging out of it. Her husband has a chop saw and she wanted to random chop up pieces and glue them to a backer board, then frame it.

I haven't seen the results yet, maybe still a work in progress.

Tried to watch it...you have got to be joking......r e a l l y.......what a waste....

  • Author

Steven, you could have done wonders with that wood and all your planes.

Herb

That is the main reason I said it was a waste.....could have made quite a few boxes with all of that....

But Steve could you hang a box on the wall and have it look as awesome as his wall art? :D:lol:

Yeah, that's why we get drool stains on our pillows.
