Got a question for ya'll, and this is going to require the honor system here. Please no Googling for the answer, I need to know what you all know about the three research reference types.

If I can get a from the brain and heart answer, without any outside influence, this will really help us in the creation of our (long overdue) wiki project for woodworkers to research and submit articles too. Please understand I am not coming from a "know-it-all" base of knowledge here, I had to learn this recently on my own as well, as I was not a college kid, barely a high-school edumicated kid before joining the ARMY, so any regular Joe answer on this one would be very helpful.

 

 

Please define:

• References
• Footnotes
• Bibliography

References- a detailed list of works used to support your ideas/writings- usually at the end of the publication.

 

Footnotes- listing of the references used on a page. Placed at the bottom of the page where they are used.

 

Bibliography- list of reference material by title, author, ISBN and publisher

There are several "styles" of citations that are used. Colleges will often require you to use a specific style when submitting papers. Even some woodworking magazines will specify a style when writing articles for submission.
