I try to work with multiple mediums to make elegant pieces that grab the eye.  I work with a Non-profit that started here where I live and where I am from, Sheep Dog - Impact Assistance.  They support Veterans and 1st Responders across the Nation and Canada.

Awesome work, Robert!

I saw some of your coxcombed oars on Pinterest.

Thanks for sharing and working for such a great cause!

Thanks Lew, I doubt they were mine on Pinterest unless someone else shared them there.  I am really looking forward to the day that can make my own oars and not have to buy them though.

Very Cool Looking Work! Thank you for sharing

Sharp looking paddles, Robert! Having spent countless hours in canoes, I'd just like to point out that there IS a difference..... oars are used in rowboats!

I imagine oars are one of those things that look deceivingly easy to make but in reality not so much.

I haven't tried yet.  I am pretty sure I don't have the equipment to form one, yet.

Oars are typically longer, and heavier, ride in an attached oarlock, and have a round (cylindrical) handle at the end. They are used in pairs, a left and a right. The paddle is lighter in weight, and is held with BOTH hands, hence the cross-wise grip. As for making your own, use waterproof glue for the blank, then all you really need is a sharp knife, although a spokeshave is safer. A cherry spine with cedar sides makes a good-looking paddle!

WOW ROBERT!!!!... those are nice.. very nice...

Most excellent work Robert...I love the "Perez" Airborne flag! Thanks for posting & sharing!

Robert, the work is fantastic! We may have to call on you to create our Patriot Woodworker Logo for events!

I'd love to see your work also in our Gallery http://thepatriotwoodworker.com/gallery/

You can create your own Album, and keep a running collection of your work showcased. Always share your work in forums so we can gloat over it, but you can also share your prize work in your own album. Great work man, very cool.

Thank you John.  I would be honored, while I have the laser running this weekend I will try a test burn of the logo and see how it looks.

Nothing wrong with those...nice job!
