July 4, 20179 yr Popular Post First off, I have two "orphans" to figure out what to do with Don't have any saw plates that match, the holes patterns are different than the plates I still have... Warranted Superior Medallions. Not sure what to do with these.... However, I did find one match for another handle.. As I have an Atkins handle.. Holes match! Need to clean the rusty plate and see IF there is an etch.....and see IF I can find out what model this was. Might have a bit of time this week?
July 4, 20179 yr Popular Post "Might have a bit of time this week?" Sure, just work it in between the screen door, Rachel's desk, and rust picking. Don't forget to stop and breathe, eat, drink (water, of course) and sleep. Edited July 4, 20179 yr by Fred W. Hargis Jr

July 4, 20179 yr Author Popular Post Hmmm, did not take all that long to do... Found enough brass bolts that fit the handle, and went together easily. Had one small kink at the tooth line,,,hammered that out. Haven't decided about refinishing the handle, yet Was a bit distracted, I also got the new screen door ready to install. Pet door is installed, screen guard has been cut to size and installed. Need to demo out the old door, and install the new.....then the Boss can paint it up.. Saw took less than an hour to do...I am getting slow in my dotage....
July 5, 20179 yr Author I'll see IF I can bring out the etch a bit better, later today... Might be an Atkins No. 59? Or something like that....we'll see...
July 5, 20179 yr Author Popular Post yep..No. 59 is in the etch. Found a few lines of script to the tight of the main etch...still trying to read them... Blade length is 24". Gun Blue Paste: Smear a coat on where you need it. Wipe off the excess. Then LIGHTLY sand the metal with either a sanding block or a palm sander using just the weight of the sander Etch sit deeper ( not by much..) then the surrounding plate. Just need to remove the blue on the high spots.
July 6, 20179 yr Author IF you have the setup, and IF you have a proper sized tub to hang the plate in.....be aware of flash rusting when you pull the plate back out.

So this is the first finished bowl. Very good then you are normal like the rest of us. Mistakes are what make us better. Just be safe and try to stay out of the firing range when pieces come off the lathe. On 7/4/2017 at 9:40 AM, lew said: Nice handle- first pix, bottom handle. 'scuze me Lew, no Quote button with pics.
