July 1, 20179 yr I cut this sign for my step-daughter. It was my first attempt. Not real happy with it, but it will have to do. They drove in from Oklahoma for her husbands grandfathers funeral. She loves it. And she said "I could have used it at the kennel this week because we had to put Chloe in the kennel while we were on the road". I plan to improve on my finish work. The carving went great, but was slow because the paw prints took a long time to cut with a 60 deg v-groove bit that has a flat tip. Sure looks good though. And the paint was hard to sand off. That I will work on for future signs. Just a beginner making beginner mistakes. Edited July 1, 20179 yr by MT Stringer
July 1, 20179 yr Looks great for an early (in your CNC experience) project! If you used the VCarve toolpath then there is an option to use an end mill to clear out the flat bottom areas. It makes a separate tool path and you'll have to change bits, but the cutting time saved can be worth it. 4D

Sometimes we don't think about using the clear option if there isn't anything inside the pocket.
