Two Cherries dovetail saw

Featured Replies

I agree with your assessment, but I think generally speaking more low/no quality comes from the far east than elsewhere. Someone made a case here recently for some good stuff coming out of Taiwan, and some crap labeled "made in USA". I know Sawstop saws get pounded regularly (maybe it's Gass that gets pounded, and the saws are collateral damage) but their build quality is excellent. Easily the equal of, say, the US Unisaw (from a guy that has/had both and IMHO, of course). But there's no reason the low quality stuff can't come from Europe and other countries as well.

All due respect to Paul, but did he give Two Cherries a chance to make it right? The saw could have come from a bad set, or a bad accidental run from a just a few saws. Perhaps the set of the teeth were wrongly done. Personally, I would have called Two Cherries customer service, notified them of the poor cut, no doubt they would have sent Mr. Sellers another one, then if that second one turned out just as bad, blog away! But I would have given the hand tool maker one more chance.

Even great tool maker Lie Nielsen craps out a dog now and then. I think where this review falls short, is giving the toolmaker a chance to make it right, that is the true worth of a maker/retailer, backing their product with support.

Years ago I purchased a Crown marking gauge. The scratch pins were crooked and the locking screw was mis-threaded. I contacted Crown- they replaced the gauge and sent me an additional "reward" for my  work bench. I think most responsible manufacturers care about their reputation.

In his defense, he wondered how many of these went to users without the experience and knowledge that he has.

" If you bought this saw and you thought the outcome was a result of your inexperience. It’s not. "

Great point Keith, it could have frustrated many users who are inexperienced. I hope that was not the case, but it is quite possible if a beginner got a hold of one, they could be frustrated enough to hang it up, I hope not.

Be interesting to learn if Mr. Sellers corresponded with Two Cherries and, if so, what was their response.
