Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted June 23, 2017 Report Posted June 23, 2017 Bosch owns Vermont American??? Who'd thunk it? It is interesting, but probably only correct for the next 5-7 days..... as fast as the companies are changing hands. Gene Howe and Cal 2 Quote
schnewj Posted June 23, 2017 Report Posted June 23, 2017 Some of these smaller companies change hands quicker then property on a Monopoly game. However, it is really interesting to see who owns some of these companies. Unfortunately, just because the parent has a great reputation, doesn't mean the subsidiary does. Many of them function independently of the parent. TTI owns Milwaukee tools, which has a great reputation, Ryobi (undeserved slams as cheap tools) and Homelite. I have never had problems with my Ryobi tools, I hate a 1/2 Milwaukee hammer drill I have, it is under-powered junk (not typical of their tools), and I won't own anything Homelite with a carburetor on it. You just never know who owns what! Quote

Nope me either...had one once years ago...first, last and only... I too have been very satisfied with my Ryobi products...might be different if I used them daily and was making a living with them but I don't and am not so no complaints. Thanks @Gene Howe for the post & info. I was not aware that Stanley now owned Mac Tools, all of the holdings of APEX nor Sioux is a Snap-On Tools holding. All very informative. Quote
kmealy Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 Some of the comments date back to early 2014. Given the number of strike-thrus and comments, a lot has changed and not all of them are up to date. IIRC Stanley-B&D sold of Porter Cable several years ago. Starting to look like the paint manufacturers. Quote
