Those two ingredients combined are the start to one good great pie...outside of blueberry pie, strawberry/rhubarb is my second favorite unless I can have a piece of each on the same plate with vanilla bean ice-cream between them!:P

My favorite is plain RHUBARB pie. Rhubarb/strawberry is a distant second.

My mom used to make a rhubarb sauce that we used like jelly on toast. I think it may have been the same as her pie filling. At any rate, I sure miss it. Can't even find it for sale around here. And, it won't grow in our garden.

I thought I wasn't going to do much shop work over the weekend but that change.

I had a customer come by wanting some barn wood, I told them I didn't have any barn wood but some wood stored in a barn. So we went over to look at what was there and she changed her mind. Now I'm doing shelves and a desk from some slabs I had at the barn.

These two slabs labs will be two wall shelves just over 8" long. Leaving the live edge.

Then these two slabs will be joined to create a desk 30" deep and 7' long leaving a live edge on both sides. I'll fill the knots but they want to leave the cracks. Right now they are right at 9' and I cut one edge off each one just to be me something straight to square the ends.

And just let me say, these slabs are heavy.

So so it turned out to be a busy weekend in the shop.

That's gonna be a really cool desk top. I wonder about the ease of use along the live edge, though. But, the customer wants what the customer wants.

Did you consider a butterfly to stabilize that crack?

This is going to be interesting.

Next Monday, will have other-than-woodworking  to do...

Storms last night, rained so hard the gutter was overwhelmed....poured like a waterfall onto the roof of the Gazebo......that is a zipper strip by the rocking chair.

Big tree in the background is a Tulip tree.  Leaves are even shaped like Tulips.    Has yellow and white blooms that also look like Tulips.   tree belongs to the neighbors.

Guess I will be fixing this mess when I get back from the trip....

Sorry Steve for the troubles...we received a lot of rain in a short period but nothing like that. You must have got the aftermath of what hit north of us...over 4" in less than four hours...

Hope things get better.

+2 on what Dave said, I bet that tree is beautiful when I blooms, and must give a lot of shade on the hot days.

And it sheds a lot of branches.    Tree looks nice, but tends to get very "messy"

And I presume you get your share.

Yes and right now they think they want to leave it but I believe I'll talk them into that.
