I agree 100%, I just don't expect to compete on price. We went camping over memorial day and everyone liked my folding chairs and tables. Someone asked if I'd make some for her. I don't remember how much time I spent on them, but I'm sure it would not be cost-effective for either of us.

If all I was concerned with was price, I wouldn't have a woodworking hobby at all. And that's without considering the outlay on tools and machinery that can be used many times over on future projects. I think the subjects of economics and personal satisfaction are entirely situational, and are usually two separate discussions. I also think we both make good points.
June 11, 20178 yr Were I overly concerned about the costs of my projects, I wouldn't even start one. But then, the efficaciousness of my work time and expenditures has always been in doubt.
June 11, 20178 yr Author My nephew was in town this weekend and we had breakfast. He's retired from the Marines and first time we've seen him in 8 or more years. He's building his own airplane when he's not working, traveling, or doing air shows. He said progress is slow and he said he's a slow worker. I told him the next one will go much faster.
