May 20, 20179 yr Years ago, I bought a Porter Cable Omnijig and all of the attachments. It took longer to set the thing up than it did to cut the dovetails. Finally bought a Japanese pull saw and learned to cut them by hand. Jig is gathering dust in a corner of the shop.

May 21, 20179 yr I used this until I got fed up with it... PC 4210.....started to let parts slip-slide around.....You have to have scrap, or anotherwood item to help clamp the piece you want to dovetail so it doesn't move. Finally just got rid of the thing....

I just hated all the fussing and fudging to get it setup. Then he switched to the Leigh Dovetail jig- way out of my price range. I figured I might as well learn to cut them by hand. I really like the way Megan Fitzpatrick lays out the dovetails- http://www.popularwoodworking.com/video/use-dividers-for-quick-easy-dovetail-layout-no-measuring. I bought a small metal layout jig for the angles but I like my wooden shop made one better.

May 21, 20179 yr When I think of Dovetails, I think of Rob Cosman and his technique for hand cut dovetails. Herb
May 21, 20179 yr haven't seen Cosman's...have seen Underhill, Sellers, and Frank Kluasz do a few.....One of these days...I might get the hang of them.....maybe. Maybe...
