Friday, May 12, 2017, What's on your Patriot Woodworker Agenda?

Featured Replies

We have a large craft show next weekend so this weekend and next week will be filled with making inventory.

As I posted in another post I finished the Walnut vanity and shelf.

I'm also ready to move the Oak cabinet doors into the finishing room.

So that's about it for me this weekend and next week.

How about you, what's on your Patriot Woodworker agenda? We all love to see your project and hear about your weekend plans.

And Hapoy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there.

What ever you do, have fun and be safe!

I really liked your walnut work you posted earlier.

For me, I am WOW this weekend, which means a LOT of shop time, I hope. I also have a few other things to do for the wife while she is gone. And, I will get caught up on The Americans. I think I have 5 episodes on the DVR to watch.

Installing hinges after making a jig.

Refinished a indian flute box I made for the wife years ago and the poly on cedar curdled. Got the shop cleaned up for tomorrow. Will have  about 17 here for spring open shop turning.

Today, I saw a great sight.  I loaded the last of 26 shelving units destined for a local school.  It was a fun and profitable job but I'm ready to see something other than birch plywood for a while.  This afternoon, I started building a pair of walnut shadow boxes and next up is a pair of exterior doors.

Here's the sight I saw

"I love it when a plan comes together"

I have been working on making some shelves out of some old slabs of wood that have been sitting under a tarp on the side of my house. Yesterday I finally finished the last one with the finish and brought them into the house so I could start working on a piece of old Doug Fir barn wood to make a coat/hat rack. I got it all sanded down to get rid of the splinters, but then my air compressor had a problem with a piece of copper pipe springing a leak. So I pulled things apart to check on everything and I will have to get a couple of fittings to get it back going as well as replacing the copper tubing.

Rust Hunting this weekend......

Working on a little project that's  been in the back of my mind for a while, not sure if the idea will even work but hey it's how we learn, right? Posted an "in progress" picture in the turning forum if anyone is interested.

Steve

Friday was a bust. Dr. appt. And, Phyl had me pick up 6 items. Naturally, each one was only to be found at seperate establishments. Left home at 08:00 and, with careful time management, I was able to get every thing done and get home by 15:30. Tomorrow, we're invited to a Mother's day brunch. So, today is the only day of the weekend I can get to the shop. But, what the heck, when you're retired, every day is a free day...yeah, right.

Well I was warned of that Gene, it seems to be free time for everyone else since I'm retired. "Since your retired can you run here and get this then stop by here on the way back and then run over and take this to someone for me. "  Then my "FREE" day is gone! But I wouldn't trade it for thee old routine either.
