Ok, at the moment, we are waiting on a carpet installer to lay new carpet in the house,  to replace the fire hose soaked stuff.   Takes a while to get things done, after a fire, it would seem. 

 

The Boss is unhappy with the size of the current "pantry cupboard"  .   More of a "Chimney Cupboard"  than a Pantry.     So...she wants a much wider and tall version built.  

 

Told her the following things ( then ducked?)

 

32" wide wasn't quite do-able, but 31" will do?

Still debating on the height of the top....

It WILL have two doors.....how fancy-schmansy they are.....

 

Fixed or adjustable shelves......or a little of both?   

And, the Boss needs to allow for the costs of the lumber, and hardware.      Hoping she doesn't treat this like the last one, and paint it black.,,,,,,

Nah...old school in this shop.   Doubt if there will be any drawers in this one.....she messed up the last drawer badly.    The "old" pantry does have a single drawer at the bottom....hasn't been opened in years.

Nah...Boss wants shelves......Lots of can goods, and cereal boxes.   Soups and such.....not much to put into drawers....

I am sure someone would SELL the tickets, who knows if there would BE a live show

instead of pull-out drawers, have pull-out shelves with a maybe 2" rim on the sides and back to keep things in place.

and all that ran through my head was "paint it black" by the Rolling Stones.   no mind control  

 

I hear BLO is the new black.

Need to buy a bunch of 1 x 8 x 6' pine boards.....not sure how fancy I'll get, yet.    Sides may just be a glued up panel....easier to do dados that way.   Shelves may be glue ups as well. 

 

Carpet got laid today.....fellow that the Landlord had lined up for the job....never showed up.   He and I wound up doing the carpet.    Landlord is less than a year younger than I am....two old Phartes rolling around, trying to lay carpet......wasn't pretty.   Paying the price, right now....

Still waiting on the lumber, maybe another week or so...

 

In the meantime, I have a bit of clean-up to do..

This "thing" arrived yesterday....will need a wee bit of work...

Rusty handles that should have been Brass?    All veneer work.   Some is starting to lift off..

right behind that light spot, there are "ripples" in the surface...

Legs look even worse than my own legs.....how do you like the carpet,BTW.    Landlord picked it out.

 

Might try to clean the handles, not sure about the wood parts, yet.  Doors and drawers work fine...Boss has this already filled up.

 

Imagine making one of these things....
