April 18, 20179 yr Author This is what I found: I moved the refrigerator into the middle of the kitchen. It does not have an ice maker, but the flour I spread around it told the tale. I took a flashlight and shined it down into the pan in the rear, and there was water standing in it. I have moved the refrig. to the other end of the room and will replace the refrig. while the floor dries out a little before replacing the floor. Thanks for all the suggestions!

There should be water in that pan. It comes from the defrost cycle and is supposed to evaporate. Some refrigerators have a fan that is supposed to assist in the evaporation process. Maybe the problem is an easy fix.

Bad door gaskets can cause excessive frost build up which leads to excessive water in the pan but being in several day cycles could the frdige see a lot of use for the day before the water on the floor ? April 19, 20179 yr Author Local repairman said he would charge $58.00 for a service call, he would charge $25.00 plus parts and labor if I bring it to him. The way I figure it is that if I take it to him and it is not repairable, then I have lost less money than if that is the scenario if makes a home service call. So, I think I will deliver it to his shop, pay the cost to have it looked at. I know that I am a cheapo when it comes to spending someone else's money, as well as to spending my own! So, you don't have to tell me! Thanks again for all your input! I will follow up on this after the dust settles.
April 27, 20179 yr Author A gift of another refrigerator took care of the water problem. Now I have to replace the floor tile. Thanks again for your help!
