Ron Dudelston Posted March 18, 2017 Report Posted March 18, 2017 OK folks, here's the deal. I went to an auction today and stole bought a Ryobi oscillating spindle sander (the Powermatic went way too high). Anyway, the sander came with a box of sanding tubes, one of the arbors for the Powermatic (boy, is the guy who outbid me gonna be ticked), and this inflatable/expandable arbor. I can't figure out for sure what piece of equipment you use it on. It is 6" long (or tall), the plate at the top is 4 1/4" across and it has an air valve at the end to expand it with. The other end has internal threads and they measure .922" or 23.49 MM. The best I can tell it is about 12 threads to an inch but don't hold me to that. It has that Grizzly paint look and there a bunch of Grizzly tools at this auction. So, what is it? Quote
HandyDan Posted March 18, 2017 Report Posted March 18, 2017 Inflatable drum sander drum. Screwed right on a motor shaft. HARO50 1 Quote
Ron Dudelston Posted March 18, 2017 Author Report Posted March 18, 2017 Hmmm, interesting. This must have been an orphan because there wasn't anything in the auction that it fit. Quote
HandyDan Posted March 18, 2017 Report Posted March 18, 2017 You can have adapters made and use it on your drill press or lathe. HARO50 and steven newman 2 Quote
Ron Dudelston Posted March 18, 2017 Author Report Posted March 18, 2017 Interesting. I wonder who made it? Quote
HandyDan Posted March 19, 2017 Report Posted March 19, 2017 This Grizzly is the only One I saw with that color and the valve stem in the center. https://www.pinterest.com/danieljoep/sanding-drum/ HARO50 1 Quote
Ron Dudelston Posted March 19, 2017 Author Report Posted March 19, 2017 You're good! I couldn't run it down. Thanks. I was right that it looked like a Grizzly. Quote
Chips N Dust Posted March 19, 2017 Report Posted March 19, 2017 It looks like you have an answer Quote

The link posted above goes to a Pinterest page and it is 3/4 down the page on the right side and says Grizzly but Grizzly didn't come with the picture here for what ever reason. Quote

I saw that. If it is Grizzly then is is old because it isn't on their web page. Quote

Well you win some & you lose some and then you break even...What model Ryobi Ron? OSS 450 or 500? I've got the 450...bought it NIB about 4 years ago at a yard sale for $80...I've had to replace both belts on it due to plain old dry-rot...when the sander has worked, it's very smooth...took some looking on the inter-web but I was able to find replacement belts. If you got the 500 parts seem to be more readily available for it than the 450. Neither have much support from Ryobi anymore. Both Sears Craftsman & Grizzly had models almost identical to the 450. Ron Dudelston Posted March 19, 2017 Author Report Posted March 19, 2017 It's the 450 Dave. I gave $50 for it and it had about 4 sets of new drums with it. It runs smooth as silk. When my current one dies, I have a replacement HARO50, steven newman, Chips N Dust and 1 other 4 Quote

Mine only originally came with the 3/4" and 1-1/2" drums plus the 1/2" to fit the spindle...I'll send you a parts diagram & parts diagram supplement via email. If you need or want a copy of the Owners Manual, I can scan mine and send that to you as well. I found a PDF copy of the OM for the 500 on-line but never could locate one for the 450...at least any site I truly trusted. HARO50 1 Quote
