March 8, 20178 yr Author This is one of the few times I've used side metal drawer slides in new construction. I've done a lot in repairs and replacements. I know they are generally +0 to -1/16 so I made the drawer boxes a bit undersized to allow for joinery, smoothing out, potential out of square, and variance. So I ended up having to add shims to them to get them to fit and work properly. Now on to fitting the inset drawers. The YouTubers all make it look easy as everythhing works on camera. I used to get upset with Norm when he'd check something and announce, "There, perfect." I'd much prefer to have learned how to fix something that wasn't right. Last evening, I watched Matthias do something on his pantarouter and then announce he'd forgotten to set the depth and routed into this table top and didn't have the template set up square and his mortise and tenons all had a twist in them.

Scott Philips will say that 4-5 times in 1/2 hour on his show.."That's perfect"; usually along with some other pharse that indicates the piece will be around 2-300 years from now. Very nice dresser, BTW! Edited March 8, 20178 yr by Fred W. Hargis Jr

March 8, 20178 yr Author Popular Post I know Scott, but don't see many of his shows. Still trying to figure out how Suzy made it onto the show. Some people have described it as "Mr Rogers visits the Workshop" Also tends to get too much into the sponsors.
March 8, 20178 yr Mathias is one of the few guys on YouTube that reveals his mistakes. Steve Ramsey is another. Probably due to time constraints, the TV guys just don't make mistakes...on camera. I'll bet the out takes would be hilarious...and not fit for family viewing. Edited March 8, 20178 yr by Gene Howe

March 8, 20178 yr Author Popular Post Looking a little closer to end result this morning. Also made up some stain samples from cutoffs so I can do color matching to existing pieces in bedroom.
