January 22, 20179 yr Last week we were in the big stores looking for 60 watt led bulbs and Watco clear lacquer and Lowes and Walmart were a world of difference in prices ,Watco, made by Rustolium a can was 8.79 and Walmart was 4.50 . So out of curiosity we checked on the same 60 watt led bulbs in both stores and again Lowes was right at twice as much. Same watt and year guarantee and all that good stuff. I had remembered when we started changing out all our light bulbs Lowes were much higher than Walmart but had forgotten. Its really hard to find the same exact brand in more than one store so comparisons can't be made but then we found the Sylvania brand to compare. That brand is foreign made now. So what is causing the price difference, is Walmart not union and Lowes is, or what. My wife claims she saw some things in a store that said, made is america with multi national labor. January 22, 20179 yr Not just 2 different store but it happens at the same store but 2 different "outlets" Last week I had to do an emergency computer repair. Because it was a rush job, I had to buy the power supply from Staples. Looked on line and they had the item in stock at the local store. Went there and picked it off the shelf. I noticed the "in store" price was $14 more than the "on line" price. When I questioned this at check out and showed the clerk the on line price, on my phone, she price matched the lower price.
January 22, 20179 yr Author Maybe so Stick but that is where all our leds came from and they are all still burning so I got no way of knowing. I told wife to save the receipts but that won't work for the ink will fade away in the amount of years the bulbs are warrantied for. So then what ? I will probably burn out way before the bulbs do. I told the wife to see if she can trade me in for some thing, she said O GOODIE. The warranty says on the bulbs , the receipt should be taken to the country of origin along with the burned out bulbs for complete and happy replacement...transportation provided by the warranty seeker. Happy swimming you all.
January 22, 20179 yr the led power supplies are the weak link... I like supporting America... it's who I am... http://www.theledlight.com/assembled-in-the-USA-LEDs.html https://www.earthled.com/collections/led-lighting-made-in-the-usa-made-in-usa-lighting-arra-compliant-led-lighting http://lppenergy.com/ https://www.lightingdirect.com/lighting-made-usa/c27769 http://usa-leds.com/led-fixtures/
January 22, 20179 yr Author Lew down that same line of thought, three years ago we decided on a certain model of TV and super center had it the cheapest but it was it the town about 60 miles from home. Okay we took the info to the small Walmart here in our town, not a super center. Any when we ask for the same price on the same model, no we don't do as much business as they do so we have to set our own prices. 45 dollars higher was as close as they would get. Live and learn and die and forget it. But yesterday the cans of lacquer here was a few cents a can cheaper than Super Center day before yesterday?
January 22, 20179 yr I am not sure that Sylvania is completely off shored. There are several factories in Seymour Indiana. If memory serves, one of the factories was for car light bulbs. I don't know about the others but they were all light factories. 732 B Ave E, Seymour, IN 47274 Likewise Grote industries is another American company and is in Madison, Indiana http://www.grote.com/

January 23, 20179 yr Sometimes price matching isn't possible. The xxx drill kit at Lowes has an extra drill bit in it than the Walmart xxx drill kit and Home Depot's xxx drill kit has an extra driver bit and they all have different product numbers. Edited January 23, 20179 yr by HandyDan
January 23, 20179 yr So very true, and sometimes wore than that. I was looking at a window A/C last year for the shop. I found a whirlpool unit that would fit and looked around. The exact same one at Lowes had the model number with a "L" in it, that model at Best Buy ($20 cheaper than Lowes) had a BB where the L used to be. I think the vendors are forcing the manufacturers to do everything possible to escape that price match (in Lowes case it's price match + another 10% reduction) clause they all love to advertise.
January 23, 20179 yr Just as @Fred W. Hargis, Jr said, I think all of the big box John Deere are all the same product with different model number by store name.

January 23, 20179 yr At some of these stores, you need to double check the prices on the "Family" size versus the "Regular" size. Sometimes the unit price is cheaper on the "Regular" than on the "Family" size. They try to get you to buy the "Family" size, hoping that you think it is a better deal.
