Popular Post HandyDan Posted January 4, 2017 Popular Post Report Posted January 4, 2017 There was a Robert Sorby multi tip hollowing tool in that batch of tools I bought at auction. It was missing the straight bit and the circular hold down for it. Went to work on the lathe and made the hold down. Took a 3/16" hole for the screw so I use the same size hole for the cutter and made the cutter from a 3/16" drill bit. Flattened one side of the bit on the belt sander, cut it to length and sharpened it. Turned out well and saved myself a few bucks. DuckSoup, HARO50, FrederickH and 4 others 7 Quote
John Morris Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 Jeez Dan, you are truly Handy! Great job! You guys that do this stuff I really admire. Since I am a rookie turner, does that little ol metal stick really hollow things? HARO50 1 Quote
HandyDan Posted January 4, 2017 Author Report Posted January 4, 2017 Yes it will John. I think the key to hollowing is taking small bites. Less catches. John Morris and HARO50 2 Quote
