Friday, Dec 23, 2016, What's on Your Patriot Woodworker Agenda?

Featured Replies

Well folks, this is John Moody's body double filling in while he recuperates after a knee replacement.  Here we are two days before Christmas and everyone is scurrying around finishing up their shopping, traveling or attending their favorite holiday festivity.  Yesterday, I had 5 sheets of cabinet grade Baltic birch plywood delivered for a project for our local library but it will wait till Monday or Tuesday.

So, on this holiday weekend, what's on your Patriot Woodworker agenda?

I'm all done, just lay back and enjoy the Christmas Holidays.  Going to make some pens.  Son and best friend talked me out of these first two.

Workbench covered with yet another sick computer. What's worse, the owner does not backup their data.

Saturday evening everyone is at our place, Sunday at our daughter's. No shop time until Monday!

John

Looking forward to this holiday being over and getting back into the shop.  Have some projects that need my attention and I am having withdrawals.  :D

Steve, the old FlGatorwood

Take time to enjoy the short hiatus Steve. The tools will wait.

just finished staining 3 doll cradles this evening, have to get them sprayed tomorrow morning

Christmas Eve and Christmas day with the family. Shop time will have to wait till next week.

And it'll stay this way till well after Christmas.

Gene, I noticed what appears to be a dust collection tent over the CMS or SCMS.  Just wondering if it helps and where it might be available

Well, Ron you've done good so far in John's absence...pray that things went well today for him and he's off & running (pun probably intended here;)) to a quick and speedy recovery.

Hope to rest a little Saturday...we have Christmas Eve services at 6 PM we'll try to attend...

Christmas morning with likely be a flurry this year and no doubt start early. :P Youngest grandson (2-1/2) has got the concept this year and will not be outdone by his 5-1/2 y/o brother...grand-daughters, well they're teenagers so that should sum it up. Church service at 10 AM.

Christmas Day meal most likely will be at the hospital...if it is anything like the Thanksgiving Day it will be a very good, traditional meal for nearly no cost to families. Not the best place for a gathering, but we'll make the best out of the circumstances. The concession is far offset by the blessing of one more Christmas together.

To all my Patriot Woodworker family & friends...may you and your families have a Blessed, Joyous & Merry Christmas.

Al, you can't see it in the picture but, there's a collapsible bench on the back side of the SCMS that holds a worksharp and strip sander. Before the hood was installed, those machines had to be covered. Not a great solution. The hood is a great solution. I only wish I'd done it sooner.

The hood came from Fastcap. LINK

Thanks  Gene . This seems like a good alternative to a dust collector, which doesn't seem to be very effective with the SCMS.
