November 14, 20169 yr comment_84137 John, Would it be possible to add an RSS feed button to the Blogs page. I've noticed that I have missed a bunch of entries. An RSS feed would help as a reminder when an entry is added. Lew Report
November 14, 20169 yr comment_84154 Lew, please educate me. What is an RSS feed and how would it help with blogs? Thanks. Report
November 14, 20169 yr Author comment_84157 Gene, RSS is a method of automatically checking a web page for new information. From Wiki- "Subscribing to a website RSS removes the need for the user to manually check the website for new content. Instead, their browser constantly monitors the site and informs the user of any updates. The browser can also be commanded to automatically download the new data for the user." There are compact little programs that can be added to any Browser that will automatically check any site you wish for changes and report that something new has been added. The little programs are called RSS Readers that will monitor any site you wish- as long as that site supports RSS feeds. You can tell if a site/web page supports RSS by the little orange symbol - usually located near the bottom of the page. There are a bunch of free RSS readers. I like one called Inoreader. There is an add-on for each browser that easily monitors and alerts you to changes. Here's another site that lists many more readers and a little about each. http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-rss-reader-aggregator.htm On the patriot site, you can follow the various forums using the "Follow" button in the upper right area of the forum's main page. That way when a post is added to that forum, you have the option of receiving an email indicating that entry. On the Blogs page there isn't a "Follow" button for the general landing page. Currently, the only way you are aware of a new blog is from the entries on the Patriot home page, about half way down the right side. I rely on notifications from sites to make me aware of new information. I've missed several interesting Blogs because I forgot to check the Patriot home page. Maybe I'm just being picky/lazy, in my old age. Report
