Good Monday Morning Patriot Woodworkers! September October 24, 2016

Featured Replies

Good Morning all! Here we go again, these weeks are just ticking off like crazy now, it seems just a few days ago we were celebrating the 4th of July, and here we are into Fall and heading to the Holidays! My goodness.

What have yall been up too over the weekend? What did you create, what did you destroy! Did you get productive or were there just too many games on the tube to watch? How about them Cubs and Indians, whether you are a fan or not, I love the history behind these clubs and I am glad to see these guys hit the big time. This will be a fun series to watch.

So, in this topic please leave us some information about your happenings the past couple days, and your plans over the next week, we love pictures so please show us what you have been up to.

The Patriot Woodworker Departments

We have many great areas in our community just waiting for you to contribute and share. Our software has so much to offer, all it needs is a little bit of love from our contributors!

  • Gallery - Load your images into our gallery, create your own albums, or not, just pick your category and load your images up! If we do not have a fitting category, just ask, and we'll kick it around and create it.
  • Blogs - One of our most under-utilized areas, blogging is a great tool for you to create a one off story, or a series of stories showing off your work or the process used. Please jump in and create a blog!
  • Calendars - Do you have a club event you want to share with us? Or how about a veterans support event, or a woodworking show, really anything of interest is a great candidate to insert into our events calendars. Use our calendars, they are there for you!
  • Links -  We have a wonderful Links Directory that we created for you to share your favorite websites, and your own websites, it's easy and fun to use. Again, if you need a category, please ask and we'll create it.
  • Downloads - Did you know you can submit your own home made plans, schematics and woodworking related files to share with everyone? You can! Just head on over to the Downloads area and submit your file.
  • Chat -  Ah the wonderful chat, jump in and chat with your friends real time!

So there you have it, just a quick run down on what we have out there, for you, our contributors to use, share, and to help us advance our great craft of woodworking.

Have a wonderful week ahead, and be safe, stay alert in your shops, and stay alert on the roads, we have rain in many areas of our country!

We are here for you Bob. Sometimes we get in the way, but we try to stay out of the way and let the contributors (you) take the community where it needs to go. So far, you all have taken this organization in a great direction! Good job!

Procrastination is an art form, and I mastered it yesterday.

Vegetative state continued till bed time.

Hope today proves to be a wee bit more productive.

That would be the first step, wouldn't it? I'll take that under consideration.

BTDT. It's off to the races, now.

Saturday I finished a rolling stand for a mini lathe in the garage.  Sunday, the rain quit long enough to gather the leaves and then I pushed the lathe out in the driveway and rough turned two dozen blanks for a ball and catch game.  It is nice to turn with the wind blowing the fine dust away from you.

Looks like the instructor, in the picture is using one of the original iPads

We're keeping close watch on Quigley, after his surgery.

Since no time in the shop over the weekend, I will try to make up for it during the evenings this week. Friday morning I meet with the ankle surgeon to discuss my options on the split in my ankle tendon.

Hey John, no shop time this weekend, but I plan to make up for that during the week. Got a few projects glued so we'll see about those. I'll throw in some pictures later.

Did not get much done in shop as I worked Friday morning and had security at church Sunday. Hope to get started back on the chess set today .

A busy weekend for us in the shop. My son was over and we worked on 2 Cedar Big Green Egg Tables.

I know, it looks like he is doing all the work but someone had to take the picture.

We got two of them completed.

I also got the Cheese boards we had cut out oiled with Mineral Oil.

Got them all branded.

And we got the knives and bows tied on 51 of them.

I got six cutting boards glued into the first glue up and ready to cut into pieces for the second gluing.

And I got the frame together for another table like the Green Egg Table but this one is made of Poplar.

About to eat supper and head back out to finish some sanding so the tables can get delivered tomorrow.

Hope you all had a great weekend in your shop.

A very busy day indeed.

What sort of finish will you put on the Green Egg tables?

These aren't getting a finish, the customer didn't want one. I usually spray them with a sealer and them with General Finishes Enduro-Var.

They may be going to put a finish of their choice on these.

Wow John, I got tired out just looking at your progress!

I did a few glue ups on Sat. AM and went to a Greek festival in the PM.  Great food, great Greek beer, great music... you get the idea.

A few more glue ups on Sunday, and SWMBO helped me take down a 10' piece of kitchen cabinet.  Have a contractor coming by Wednesday to talk about when and how much $ to take the wall out.

Today, a few more glue ups and clean up the shop a bit.  Also did some lawn chores, trimming back bushes & trees from walls & roof.

Seems like you were pretty busy too, and hey, I love great food! I needed to be doing some yard work but these needed to get finished.

That ankle thing sounds serious. I have a friend that just did an ankle replacement. He went to Memphis, TN. Already walking and no limp. Amazing.

OK, I just HAVE to ask.... Green Egg tables? Somebody raising Araucana chickens?

John
