I wondered how some ply would turn and It wasn't so good. One thing led to another and with some creativity, a permanent fine marker, stain and some trim, it came out OK. 

 

 I am working on a way to get decent pictures of small work. I came up with this set up. It is black foam board with a white insert (dollar store) Cut some slots and insert a dowell. I don't have the light set up like I want it yet. I can pick any color insert or use the black. The sides support it  Easy to move, fold to store

Cool idea, Ron. I like it a lot better than the one I made to photograph a bunch of pens we made-

 

I didn't need a large background for them. We used a piece of wood and nails that came from the original beams that made up the pen blanks.

Nice ornament Ron.  I'm glad to see you working on the picture taking set up.  I hope to get some ideas from you.

Nice idea on the photo setup. You can put a pic of that in the photo blog to keep everything together. By the way it is a good thing you are not selling the ornaments with all that time adding bling yopu would go broke. That is a neat idea for a tree.

That is a fine tip magic marker making random marks. I use color markers to get different effects
