October 3, 20169 yr Good Evening Friends, How many remember the following? A scarf joint? A saddle joint? A blind joint? A bridge joint? 5 points for each correct answer and a description of each.
October 3, 20169 yr A scarf joints... dove tail... stepped... standard... half lap... and there are many many more... A saddle joint... A blind joint... A bridge joint... know it as a control joint... a FJ w/o glue/fasteners to allow movement in materials...
October 4, 20169 yr Saddle joint......sometimes called a bridle( as in horse) joint.. Joints for this door. Open ended mortise, tenon goes all the way through. PITA to get them to fit just right Scarf joints, use them on baseboard trim, to hide where two "sticks" are joined. Angled so when you walk into a room, the joint stays hidden Blind joints......either half blind for dovetails, like for a drawer.. Or, full blind dovetails, aka secret mitre joint. Not too sure about "Bridge Joint". Unless it is for hanging crossbeams in a pergola. Secret mitre never was my strong suit.. Hard to do for the tools I use.
October 4, 20169 yr stopped bridle... full.. mitered.. regular... which is also called and open through M&T...
