What Stick said!!!!

I will go with what Stick said.

I try to stay away from joints like that. Too many headaches ensue.:D

Saddle joint......sometimes called a bridle( as in horse) joint..

inside of door.JPG

Joints for this door.  Open ended mortise, tenon goes all the way through.  PITA to get them to fit just right

Scarf joints,   use them on baseboard trim, to hide where two "sticks" are joined.    Angled so when you walk into a room, the joint stays hidden

Blind joints......either half blind for dovetails,  like for a drawer..

Or, full blind dovetails, aka secret mitre joint.

Not too sure about "Bridge Joint".  Unless it is for hanging crossbeams in a pergola.  secret mitre.JPG

Secret mitre never was my strong suit..

Hard to do for the tools I use.

stopped bridle...
