The actual wood cutting process is very quick, maybe an hour after laying out the twist. Sanding, on the other hand, many, many hours.

Then use a Forstner bit to drill along the spirals into the center of the cylinder. After all of the drilling is done, it leave the basic shape that needs refining. Thanks for asking.
