September 3, 20169 yr need to find dowel centers ya say... bore dowel sizes into the edge of a 2x4 piece of material w/ a fostner bit, say, 1 - 1¼ inch deep... insert a blind nail into where the fostner bit left a dimple in the center of the bored hole... pilot drill for the blind nail if you think you need to... insert a dowel into the appropriate sized hole and push or tap the dowel's end onto the blind nail's point to mark the center of the dowel.. . September 3, 20169 yr I'm going to have to write that down so I can remember. I use a lot of dowels with some of the toys I make.

September 10, 20169 yr I thought blind nail was a joke* until I saw one in the wild yesterday. * The Mechanical Engineering library, where I often studied in college, used to have a poster of such fasteners such as double headed nails, double threaded screws and such,.

Oooh, I hate when that happens. Hopefully it didn't happen in or around Kokomo...lots of debris scattered about from the tornadoes and now probably the on-going clean-up and haul away. Tire repairable I hope?
November 24, 20196 yr You can actually use them as a substitute for a dowel center if you don't have enough or are using an odd-size dowel (hard to find dowel centers larger than 1/2").
