I did manage to salvage the one on the left, after I dropped it. It has a blemish , but that is better than refinishing the whole thing.  The one on the right is my latest experiment with various stains and some paint and glitter. I like how it came out.

Yes and on the back side is a monkey.  I started out with a piece of wood that had character marks and considered it a sacrifice piece for my experiment. I reworked it several times playing with various paints/stains. I showed it to my wife and told her it was junk wood. She loved it, so there you have it.

Ok now you have our attention . That one on the right needs more explanation, I think I like it
