Just one thing- The unwritten, unpublished, super secret rule for shop pictures here at the patriot- no fair cleaning up the shop before taking the pictures. It makes the rest of us look bad I try to clean up after any use so it does not look like a shop!!!!!

I have to say.....it took me many years and several moves until my wife and I moved back to our hometown after 25 years of being gone to buy a house and build a shop on the property. I have always wanted one but never the timing right.

August 26, 20169 yr I have one (sort of). Mine is a Dosch, a lesser known cousin to the Pootatuck Lion miter trimmer (pictured, I think). They went under, as did Dosch, and both were made inn New Jersey (I think). Norm used to use one on occasions to "sweeten" a miter cut. I use mine mostly for smaller pieces that need to be miter, they do a nice job if they are tuned.

August 26, 20169 yr Yup...got the Lion at garage sale (high mileage day)...elbow grease and Stick's Mix brought it to beeeeeutiful...works like magic...miter lines darn near disappear...
August 26, 20169 yr Thought about a miter trimmer but never bit the bullet. I do a fair amount of framing and mat cutting. I did some frames for a painter a few years ago. Most of the paintings in the series went for $4,000 to $10,000. The frames were compound mitering and each had a decorative overlay on them. I put down a base coat and he made the frames part of the picture by painting over the boundary of the canvas onto the frame. The biggest was about 5' x 7' Worst problem was he gave me the dimensions but (being an artist), mis-read fractions.

A plan ''B'' in new... very decent trimmer.. http://www.leevalley.com/US/wood/page.aspx?p=32922&cat=1,42884 I think the Grizz trimmer is too sloppy... at least to my liking...
