I got an idea about a bell Christmas tree ornament. I used Yellow hart and Padouk. I had it all planned out in my head and started I had the top of the bell in the chuck, hallowed it out and started adding layers. I hallowed as I went. It went well, for a while. Then I started to turn the top of the bell and found a hidden flaw, a bad one. After all that work.  It is right above the yellow stripe. I did finish it, by adding a bell. sure not proud of it. I didn't work very hard to make it shine either.

To me, that adds more than it detracts. Nice shape on that bell as well.

I was disappointed, of course, but I did learn a new technique. Hope to have better luck next time.:)

No need to shine the ringer Ron, I like metal work with great patina.

The bell also looks fine. like Steve, it's an addition not a detraction from the piece, great job sir, love it! Your Christmas ornaments are exquisite!

What flaw?! All I see is an interesting characteristic provided by Mother Nature!

Nice work, Ron!

Wonderful idea and it looks great. I am one who likes those little 'flaws' as some people call them

Looks great to me Ron.  I like to see some character in the wood and don't think it takes anything away from it at all.  Shine it up it deserves it.

Looks fine and that is a unique old world shape

that as you see it, flaw, adds character...

your ornament is premium..
