August 15, 20169 yr Good Monday Morning Patriot Woodworkers and Guests! Get your motors started, and your machinery and hand tools cranking! It's time for a wonderful new week of woodworking, or working, family, life and friends. I love Mondays, it signifies for me anyway a new week ahead, a clean pallet to work with, a way to use what I learned in life the week before. I am sorry about this short Monday topic, usually I have some great information for you but I kind of arose late this morning, and I need to head on out to my day job, still need to fix breakfast to go and my lunch, mama and the kids are still sleeping, one more hour before they awake for school. But for now I'd like to take a moment and welcome all our new woodworkers who have recently signed in with our community, it truly is a wonderful thing to have all this new talent here, differing perspectives, and wonderful work. So welcome new folks, we are glad you are here! Also, I'd like to encourage everyone to head on over to the Raffle Winners topic and congratulate them and thank our sponsors for their wonderful donations of tools for this raffle. The raffle was a success thanks to you all. We raised over $1,100.00 for Homes for Our Troops who build specially adaptive homes for our disabled veterans from the OEF and OIF campaigns. They are doing a wonderful job, and your donations help! So the ultimate question I always ask during this topic every Monday, is, what do you have on your week ahead plate! What are you doing in your woodshop's, or just life in general? Anything you feel like you want to discuss or share here please feel free. Have a wonderful week ahead folks, and once again, welcome to all! Signing Off With Your Monday Eye Candy Image
August 15, 20169 yr Working this morning on putting foam board on the exterior walls of the shop. Got all the headers finished and the Windows framed in. busy week ahead but it should start looking like a shop soon.
August 15, 20169 yr Much welcome rain moved in for us this weekend, and it's still raining today...so the concrete work on my shop has come to a temporary stop. Not complaining, Since late June we haven't had 1/2" of rain total, I think this rain may be too late to help the farmers with their crops, but it may save some of the landscape plants, etc.
August 15, 20169 yr We got the same rain this weekend before it hit Fred. This week will be spent studying. I have to teach bible study on Tuesday and next Sunday I've been asked to speak in the church I grew up in. Somewhere in there I need to clean the shop and start some flag cases.
August 18, 20169 yr I actually got to get out in the shop Sunday for a little bit. It's been ridiculously hot and humid here in S.E. MO the last several weeks and the shop isn't air conditioned so no shop time. Sunday after several days of rain it was fairly cool out so I ventured out for a bit. Didn't work on a project so much as cleaning up after several months of drop it somewhere and get the heck out. My saw top was looking pretty rough so I hit it with some sand paper then rubbed it down with some Super Slick Slick Stuff and all is well again in the world. Hopefully Friday after work I can cut out the seat blanks for my two arm chairs and get them shaped and upholstered by the end of the weekend.

Those poor people, they are getting hammered. Here in So Cal we have not seen a single drop in over 100 days I think the stat is. I have not experienced any rain since March I believe. Send some rain our way folks!
August 18, 20169 yr Typical Monday.....Picked up a 3", star drive screw.......with my rear tire ( one of the new ones, of course). Apparently, there was something attached to the screw, for it flew up and nicked the top edge of the rear brake light lens.....We were able to make it home, and in trying to remove the tire......broke one of the lug bolts off. Bolt had become bent, somehow, and in impacting it off, the nut and half the bolt came off. Top it off, I tweaked my lower back. Been trammadal and heating pad to loosen things up ever since. Two doctor visits tuesday, way too much driving around. I HATE MONDAYS.... Need the Dungeon Shop to dry out, all that rain Ron sent over here has made a creek go across the floor down in the shop. Wet shavings smell.....

I sure wish someone could do that, John. No doubt the folks in Louisiana would be happy to share some they have. As I watch the news events of the CA drought and the LA flooding, I just can't help but wonder what makes mother nature so cruel.

I'm sure I missed the initial intro of your shop build...couldn't help but notice you broke it up into three rooms...how come...?
August 23, 20169 yr I like Tuesdays better......means Monday is over with, and Friday another day closer... "Tuesday's gone with the wind..." will be later today.......

One room on will be a finishing room the middle room will house the DC and Air Compressor and be storage. The last room on the right is my office. A place to meet with clients.
