Friday Aug 12th, What's on Your Patriot Woodworker Agenda?

I noticed when I got online how much I have missed this week. I've not been on hardly at all due to a serious sinus headache. The weather here has been so crazy for the past couple of weeks. It has rained every day, I know many of you have not had any, but we have had less days with no rain. Anyway it has my sinuses all messed up and when I bend over my head feels like it is going to explode.

We had Rain on Monday.

And More Rain

And today it looked like it was going to rain and it finally did.

Then the sun comes out and it feels like a sauna. So anyway no woodworking and very little of anything with the head pain.

But yesterday I went to the shop for a little bit just to try to do something and get off the couch. I had this small piece of Walnut Burl and kept wondering what I was going to do with such a small piece. Then after looking at it for a while it hit me, that would make a nice pair of book matched grips for my Remington 1911.

I got them roughed out and on the gun just to check the fit. I still need to do a bit more sanding but that was all I felt like yesterday.

But I am looking forward to getting back to this and getting them to fit me like a glove..

Well you all know, we here at TPW love to see your projects so please share your project and pictures. I hope to be checking in later to see what you all are doing this weekend.

I going to look out the back door at the rain again.

Hope you're feeling better my friend.  Tomorrow I'm going to deliver the elephant that's been in my shop for the past 10 days.   That would be my daughter's 4 foot wide bookcase.    Maybe, I can do a little housekeeping Saturday.

Hope your feeling better soon my friend. Nice Remington John!

And, I wish we had your rain. That looks so nice. I miss rain, I cannot remember the last time we had rain. Hey John, have you seen Patriot Woodworker TJ's 1911 Grips? He specializes in those, they are very nice too.

I'd ask you to send some rain this way, but, here in PA it seems lately when it rains, it floods.

Now that the relatives have gone, maybe I can get to the shop. Too hot to do anything outside. It is 4:45 pm and the heat index is 104°. Watched a beautiful lighting display last night from some storms that were 50-75 miles north of here. The cloud tops must have been super high.

Mimi wants some corbels made to decorate the front porch. We took the porch rails down and now it's a little plain.

I don't think i remember seeing his John.

Not much happening with woodworking stuff for awhile. The past few months have been filled with various doctor visits, testing and waiting for my wife Tami to get her total hip replacement surgery. I won't bore you with all the hoops and hurdles we had to deal with, but after being postponed once her surgery finally happened on August 10th which went very well. Right now I am typing from the hospital as we are waiting for Tami to get a blood transfusion to balance out for the blood lost during the surgery. Her blood counts were within normal parameters but on the low side so rather than giving her Iron pills, the Doctor wanted the transfusion. So that means we have to wait until the transfer is done before I can take her home. The good thing about staying later at the hospital is that by the time we head home the traffic on the 91 Freeway will have calmed down and we can won't have as much traffic.

Here is my wife Tami doing her physical therapy earlier today going up and down stairs. She is sore from the surgery, but she has no hip joint pain which is a real blessing.

This is incredible Allen, no joint pain already! My gosh, what a wonderful happening. I am so glad she is doing well. I cannot believe they have her already on the stairs, this is amazing.

Tami is still at the hospital. The doctor decided it would be best for her to stay in the hospital 1 more night to make sure her blood counts stabilized. So I got to spend a 3rd night at my sister's house which is about 6 miles from the hospital and am now having breakfast before heading back to the hospital.

Thanks for the check in Allen. How's Tami sleeping? Comfy or restless?

Don't know yet John. I am waiting outside a Chick-Fil-A restaurant down the road from the hospital to open up in a few minutes. After breakfast I will head to the hospital.

Sorry, I wouldn't know anything about that problem.
