It has been quite busy around here the past couple of weeks. After getting the footings dug for the shop expansion, we got ti framed up for concrete and got it poured.

Took them about a half a day to pour and put a smooth finish and it and remove the forms.

So I am about to start framing up the addition and get on with it. Hope it doesn't take me too long. I may have to have an old fashion barn raising and get lots of help in here to knock this out. Anyway, I am excited to finally see the pad and ready to get on with it.

While this has been going on outside, I built a cherry cabinet for a Marble chessboard.

The chessboard was purchased in Italy and they wanted to get a cabinet to surround the chessboard with drawers to hold all of the chess pieces.

Drawer wes made of poplar. There is a  drawer on each side.

While I was working on this, I had a couple of request for chessboards so I made a walnut and maple and a cherry and maple one.

and I had an order for an 18" square edge grain cutting board made from Walnut.

So it has been busy around here and tonight I have First Friday.

What is one your agenda for this 4th of July Holiday weekend? You know all of us here at TPW love to see your projects so post those weekend projects and pictures.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!!

John, you ever wounder how you ever got anything done when you were working?

4th of July weekend is always too busy at the Kauffman homestead. Our town's fireworks display is held, literally, in our back yard. The rocket launchers are just about 100 feet from our back fence. Needless to say, our house is the gathering place for everyone we know. Lots of food prep, house cleaning and a Valium for Quigley- he is terrified of the explosions.

I wonder that myself Harry, if there was a multitasker award of the year, I'd nominate John Moody for sure!
