Beautiful weather here in the South, lower temps this weekend and lower humidity also. Looking forward to getting outside and not wearing the weather. 

 

Looks like it the weather holds off they will pour my concrete Tuesday and should be finished with it on Wednesday. Can't wait to get started on the addition on the side of the shop. Now I have to really get serious about floor plans and where I want things to be. I have been thinking about it so long but haven't put anything down on paper or in SketchUp but that is about to change.

 

This week I got a good bit done in the shop. I had this standing mirror that was brought to me with a broken and missing piece on the bottom that ties the two sides together. Not a difficult bit of woodworking but I did have to get the piece, cut it and finish it to match. It was picked up Thursday evening.

 

They were happy and that is what matters. By the way John, those are your boxes on the table waiting for me to take them to the Post Office to ship.

 

So this weekend we will be in the shop and working on several project. I am working on making a couple of chess boards. One will be Walnut and Maple, the other Cherry and Maple. Got the pieces resawn on the band saw and glued to the ply. Trimmed the edges today and ran them through the new 24" sander to get them all the same thickness. Wow do I love this new sander. So Saturday I will get them glued in this direction and maybe before I quit tomorrow cut them, flip them and glue them in the other direction.

 

 

Also my son finished another Big Green Egg table that was picked up Wednesday for a Father's day gift.

 

 

So we will be making some cutting boards and working on a few other projects to see if I can begin to catch up.

Phyl and I got one Morris chair finished with three coats of watco/poly. And, I've got the ottoman ready to assemble. 

The chair is surprisingly nice looking.

Well looks like a few of us will be tossing sawdust in one way or another.

I made a mini stylus last weekend and it sold yesterday, so now I will go ahead and get the other made today, and maybe even order a couple more.

Here's the one that sold. It's made of Cherry burl and treated with a wipe on poly.

 

I also have a stylus pen that I want to get made, and a pen for a friend that I have not seen in just over a year. She's not expecting it so it will be rather special. She likes purple, and the wood has been dyed purple. Which brings me to a question, does purple look better with gold, or Chrome/Rhodium? I'm thinking Rhodium myself.

I also have some duck call bodies that could be made that i have inserts for. So as time permits this weekend, yes indeed, I will be in the shop making things.

Nice styles Charles! A long time ago, I made Mimi a slim line acrylic pen. It was purple. She picked a gold kit. I think she still has it.
