Weather is getting nice and I got to spend two days in the shop this week. I am hoping to get to finish some of these projects and work on a few other new projects.

The past couple of days I cut out enough pieces to make up 12 Edge grain cutting boards.

I got the first six glued and removed from the clamps.

And six more glued and clamped. Cutting Board Glue Ups.jpg

I hope to get these all finished tomorrow and them work on these pieces I got cut to make up six large End Grain Cutting Boards.

So for right now I am in the full swing of getting some cutting board inventory make up.

So what are you working on this weekend in your shop. We here at TPW love to see all the wonderful projects you are making. Post some pictures and share with us your weekend woodworking plans.

Just spent another Friday with the kids in the IST program at the local Vocational School- I'm tuckered out!

Going to try to get to the lathe this weekend.

Those are really going to be nice cutting boards John.

For those of you that are on my friend list on Facebook or follow me there at least, you probably know that for the past couple of days, I have been working slowly on a bowl made from Black Gum Burl.

I have it about 1/3 of the way hollowed so it has a lot more work to go. The good news is that it is for a client, and the client is not really concerned about the timing, as long as its by the end of the year lol,

I promised it would be done by then for sure.

I am going rather slow because there are holes in the wood as many burls have, and there is lots of bark inclusions. I am worried a bit that it may not hold together but we'll see. :)

This is the largest bowl I have done so far, I may have even posted it somewhere here before but I am not sure.

Here is the first picture of it after I got it trued up and a hole drilled in the middle.

I will post more later after I find my camera which seems to have run off, or if I can figure out how to upload images from my phone.

This is about 7.5x5"

Have a great and safe weekend everyone, stay dry. :) I hear it's going to be stormy for some.

The person that wants this bowl, is wanting just a non glossy finish on it, so that is easy enough to do ;)

I'll make another post about it in Woodturning.as it progresses.

These holes could be fun to deal with but I am reasonably sure I can as long as I go slow and take my time :)

Way to go John! Back at it, looks like your flu finally subsided, and the family is back to a dull roar? Or organized chaos at best? I love seeing the Moody shop in action, so much going on, all the time, you may have to expand again my friend!

Well, I can't believe it, we have a white calendar day today, meaning, nothing scheduled, no events, no college visits, only one thing that I really need to do, my son wants to go get an ice cream at the local drug store by bike ride, so we'll be setting out a few miles away on bicycles to land some great drug store ice cream cones. There's something about drug store ice cream, I don't know what it is. I know, we have Baksin Robbins 31 Flavors and yadayada, but that good old scooped ice cream for 99 cents a scoop, from the drug store counter, just seems better. Then we get to work it off on the ride back home.

After we take care of that fun, I am going to try to get the kids to get all their "stuff" cleared away from my work area so I can get some work done in the shop! Been awhile since I made sawdust, well that's not entirely true, I cut some strips of wood for shims last weekend to shim out the hardibacker surround at our new bathtub. Then we are going to tile it.

Long story short, I'll be in my shop today, just don't know what'll get done, but whatever it is, it will be relaxing, enjoyable, and time well spent with the kids.

Hope yall have a wonderful weekend!

Good luck Charles! That one will be completely beautiful if you pull it off like I know you will!

Not much in the way of woodworking this past month, but I did get my "Arts & Crafts Home and the Revival" magazine in the mail so I got something to look at for inspiration. The Arts & Crafts and Craftsman style is my favorite so I always enjoy looking through the pages getting ideas. On the down side my 2007 Ford F-150 had the transmission died on me. I got about 155,000 miles on it, so it was not a big surprise that it happened, but there was no warning whatsoever. I just pulled off the freeway heading home and then it kicked out of gear. No noise or grinding or anything. I was able to shift from "Drive" to "2" and I got it home. I was able to drive it down to the transmission shop in 2nd gear and then had my daughter pick me up. So the truck was done yesterday and I will pick it up today. The good thing is that Tami has a check coming from her school district as they had a 3% raise that is retroactive from last July, so we should get that in May or June which will cover the unexpected costs.

Tami and I celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary on Thursday. So since we were down to 1 car I dropped her off in the morning and picked her up after the kids went home and we headed out. We drove down to Huntington Beach and had a picnic dinner by the pier watching the waves and the surfers. We got a hotel down near Disneyland for the night and yesterday we spent the day at Disneyland with a bazillion or our closet friends. We have carried season passes for a number of years, so we mostly just walk around and enjoy the park but don't get to ride more than a couple of rides. Since we love Star Wars, we always go over to the Star Wars exhibit at Disneyland. We got to get our pictures taken with Chewbacca which was fun.

I think all the honey do's are done. The operative word being "think". Just finished assembling a wheeled hose reel. Darned near took all the tools in my tool box. Almost every bolt and nut was a different size. And some were metric and some Imperial.

Now, the Morris chair is getting it's first sanding. Then the adjustable back goes on. Final sanding and finish next week. And, then the ottoman and off to the upholstery place. Then, start on chair #2.

Oh no...he's at it again...

Yet  another simple, little box.  Thought I need one for these two planes...$6.99 spent...so far

I did get a Cordovan Stanley No.60-1/2 all sharpened up

Brought this back from the Jamboree in Vicksburg,MS.  Edge looked like a frown (.......now is straight across, and sharpened up.

Not too bad a weekend..

Thanks John for that, I have never done one this large but if I take my time, it should be easy enough. The blank is wide enough that it actually hits the tool rest if you try to put the tool rest mount underneath the blank.

This lathe was supposed to have a 10" swing, so it makes me wonder why it barely handles a 7.75" blank.
