April 7, 201610 yr A few of you might remember me posting about this stopper the other day, saying that i would post again when it was done. Well, here it is I am very pleased with the way it turned out. I used a wipe on poly from Minwax. This has one of Ruth Niles hardware pieces in it. It actually allows the stopper to stand on its end. Thoughts and critiques always welcome. Edited April 7, 201610 yr by Charles Nicholls

April 8, 201610 yr That stopper looks nice Charles, I use EZpots stoppers they also have stainless styles and are lower in price. just watch which ones you order because a they also have chrome plated ones on the same page.

April 21, 201610 yr Looks great Charles. I've never turned one. What are you using to hold it when turning. The picture don't show how you do it

The picture don't show how you do it Hi Ron and thanks. The first image shows the bottle stopper piece mounted to my lathe by way of a bottle stopper chuck, this basically is a 11/32 by approximately 20 tpi chuck that screwsinto the wood then onto my 1"x8tpi headstock. For those that use Ruth Niles stopper hardware, this chuck is going to leave the wood a bit proud, so you'll have to probably trim the blank down a bit more for hers, or get her chuck. Here it is in the box. Edited April 21, 201610 yr by Charles Nicholls
April 21, 201610 yr I made a mandrel by cutting the head off of a machine bolt. The diameter/threads matches the diameter/threads of Ruth Niles' bottle stopper's threaded portion. I use a Jacobs Chuck with a Morris Taper that matches my head stock to hold the bolt/stopper blank while turning/sanding/finishing. I'm a cheapskate!

HA that is a great way to do it Lew, I wish I had done that, but didn't have the ability. That said, mine was only about $20 including shipping. Edited April 21, 201610 yr by Charles Nicholls
