in with the new.    The back gate has seen a lot of abuse over the past couple years..

Just plain worn out.  Those 2x2s were a stopgap measure.....didn't work out.   Went to Lowes today, they had "Fence Pickets" on sale.   Brough home 8 boards to cut to size and make a new gate

There is a gap along the bottom, so the gate will schwing better.  I also got a box of screws to do the build.  I re-used the hinges, latch and handle.

Latch slides into a hole in the corner board.   For just under $14,   gate does look a little better.    Less than an hour's work.    Had the saw bench on the patio,  small (6'') circular saw to cut the 8 foooters down to 42".   Crossmembers to fit.   I think it will do.....

To be honest, outside projects like fences, gates, and decks are a lot of fun. It is a release from the exacting details of interior projects or furniture. And, of course, when momma's happy, everybody's happy;)

nice gate~!!
