March 14, 201610 yr Good Monday Morning Patriot Woodworker's and guests! So, what the heck do have going on in our shops this week? I finally finished sanding some plaques for my daughters veterans club event, you can follow the beginning the blog series here at Project Introduction. It's amazing how long it takes to sand 32 square pieces of wood through the grits to 600. Last night I applied a coat of Watco Teak Oil and wiped down and tonight I'll apply a second coat as well. The plaques need to be finished up by this Friday night for presentation. I'll submit a second blog entry later about this project. Meanwhile, it's daylight savings time! Yuck! I wish it would just stay whatever for all year long. For nice read on the history of DL savings, see this at Daylight Savings Time Wikipedia. So, what's up in your shops folks!
March 14, 201610 yr Broke down the final dry fit of the table and starting to sand everything. While I had everything in place I did do the final sanding and oiling of the maple top. Two coats of mineral oil and then an application of Bumble Bee Butter
March 14, 201610 yr Howdy guys, I have been trying to get a bottle stopper or two done, but I keep going back to the net LOL call it ADHD or whatever I'll try to get some pictures up of the stoppers later today. At some point I need to get a top or two done as well... Have a great week all!
March 14, 201610 yr Nice looking rack pullers, Ron. That's an awesome table top, Lew. Bumblebees don't make butter. Better check the can/pkg. Or, maybe the wife is going to be mad when she starts making pie crusts. Speaking of pie...did ya'll know that today is pi day. We all can have 3.14 pieces of pie. After 2 days of tests and a weekend with our sons in Tucson, I will be continuing assembly of the Morris chairs. I'll wait until this evening to begin the Pi day reverie. Then tomorrow, if I'm not too hung over, the assembly continues until their done. Edited March 14, 201610 yr by Gene Howe
March 15, 201610 yr This week is finishing the Lego tables. I got one of them painted yesterday and hope to finish it up today. I'm gluing up some Walnut pieces for a 27" round table top and making a repair to the back board of a drawer from an old dresser. That will certainly get me going this week.

The good thing about them is that they are easy to batch out and easy for customers to buy and carry off from a show. The guys I know selling smaller items seem like they can do pretty well at the shows. The bigger items are more difficult to move. But there certainly are variables to that.

An additional factor is the ability to replenish smaller items faster if you do have a killer show and deplete your stock.
