March 1, 201610 yr My wife bought a wooden spoon that has layers of different colors. I've worked with many exotic woods and I don't believe that all of those colors exist. If they are real, they would be too expensive to use. However I can't figure out how they got the stained color layers put together. Ideas?
March 1, 201610 yr Got a dollar says that it is dyed and turned. Colors are too bright to be natural wood.
March 1, 201610 yr Author How would you get the color thru the wood so it could be turned? Maybe under pressure?
March 1, 201610 yr I think it is a special plywood with each of the plys dyed. My sister bought me a turned scoop with the same type of coloring.

There are gun stocks made this way https://www.google.com/search?q=dyed+and+laminated+wood&safe=off&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjU89W5i6HLAhUCmh4KHSPCD1IQsAQILQ&biw=960&bih=423 http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/woodwork-dye-gun-question The material is a factory product where they can get the dye to penetrate probably using vacuum
