February 12, 20169 yr Here we are already in the middle of February and only days away from Valentine Day. I hope you have taken a little time out to pick out something really nice for your valentine. So I have been out of the shop for just over a week. But I am ready to go again and look forward to getting into the shop this weekend. We should have really good weather here and I am ready. I have cutting boards, and furniture pieces to either work on, cut out or finish so I can just take my pick this weekend. The main thing is I will get in some shop time. So what is on your Patriot Woodworker agenda this weekend? We here at TPW love to hear about and see all of your projects and the projects that are in progress. Share with us your project and any pictures you have. I'll be looking forward to seeing what all of you are doing since I have been out to pocket for a coupe of weeks.
February 13, 20169 yr Nothing being done in the shop right now. Finished up with some bedroom renovation this past week and have been doing some deep cleaning in the downstairs as we had some old friends over for dinner on Tuesday night and Friday night and got to catch up as well as getting together with some missionary friends on furlough from Africa on Wednesday which was a blast. Today Tami had some stuff to do in her classroom and needed me to do some repairs in her class. Tomorrow night Tami and I will get dressed up and go to a Valentine's Day dinner at church. Happy Wife, Happy Life.

John, you really need to migrate south for shows in the winter.
February 13, 20169 yr Three more mortises to cut and then assemble chair back #2. Assembly should begin next week. After assembly, there's a few corbels to cut and install, then on to finish. On 3/3 my prep for radiation therapy begins. So I will be out of action till mid April. Hope to get the chairs to upholstery soon after.

February 14, 20169 yr Not much of the schedule...other than replacing a handle on a chisel.. Too much of the white crud outside, wind chill is a phrase they should outlaw.....and anything below 55 Degrees should be banned. maybe I should hibernate?
February 14, 20169 yr Yea! Looks good now that the tang is fully inserted. I agree about banning temps below 55.
February 14, 20169 yr HA! My only known valentine, is a full grown male black cat. Not much of a valentine if you ask me LOL. That said, he can be quite a lovable cat when he wants to be. I didn't get a lot of time on the lathe this week or weekend due to being sick again but I got a bit of work done. I made a few file handles for some tree fellers, I'll update this post when I get the images properly loaded to the gallery. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone. Edit, well once again I seem to be having issues getting images to upload correctly. I'll put it in bugs just in case. Edited February 15, 20169 yr by Charles Nicholls
February 16, 20169 yr Author As it turned out I got no time in the shop over the weekend. We started the morning out with breakfast out and then headed to the car lot to look into trading to purchasing a new(used) truck. Friday night we drove through the lot and saw on that we both really liked and wanted to see what we could do. It was a one owner 2011 F150 Lariat package with 46,000 miles. They traded it in on another new truck. So after spending most of the day and afternoon there, we drove off with our old truck and the 2011. It was our Valentine gift to each other. Then as we do most ever Saturday night we headed out to the Auction. Beth has seen this vanity online that they were going to auction and she really loved it and had a vanity bench that matched the style of this old vanity. So when it came up for bid I started it off and continued until I won it. She said it was her Valentine gift and loved it. When momma is happy everyone is happy. Rain has set in and it has been raining since Sunday so I haven't been out to the shop much and really haven't done much work. Most of my time has been spent getting tags and insurance and everything swapped over. Hope you all had a great weekend and got to have a great time with your Valentine!!!!
